Possible help with paying for meds.

Hi,
I was listening to CNN this afternoon and they gave a website that could possibly help people who couldn't afford their medications, had lost their health insurance, etc. Now I can't vouch for this website. I took a quick look and it seems like it could be very helpful, but I have no firsthand knowledge. The site is

If anyone had any positive or negative experience with it, please let us know! It might be a great resource for some of us (like me!).

Hi PAlady and thanks so much for starting this thread! Yes, needymeds.com is legit and I have recommended it to a few people over the years. Never heard any complaints anyway.

Another one is http://www.themedicineprogram.com/ I have not had any experience with these folks either but last I heard they were helping people. When in doubt you can also call the Red Cross and often pharmaceutical houses will help with the costs if you contact them. I have no idea how you qualify but lots of people do get free meds.

The makers of almost all meds have programs designed for folks who cannot pay for their meds. If your on oxy say, you go to pharma-purdue's website and you can find a link for the partners program and I know many folks who have gotten their OC from them for many years at no cost.

It takes some paperwork from your Doc and some leg work from you but in the end it is worth it.

Google your meds that your having trouble paying for and find the brand maker and then go to their website and you should be able to find the link in there somewhere.

You also can find one of the best links to med assistance in Montel Williams website as he has been for many years a spokesperson and contributor to this cause.

Alot of local cities and places have pharmacies such as one that comes to mind is called "faith pharmacy" And they have them all over the US and you can get regular meds such as b/p,diabetes,heart and cholesterol meds,etc from them at no cost but they wont carry anything like pain or nerve meds since these would subject them to stricter regs and open them to theft since they usually are located in lower income parts of towns to keep their overhead low enough to offer these to folks at no cost or low cost.
