First of all, I would like to thank all of Y'all who have supported me throughout this last episode of Pete tripping his way through life with CP and other aflictions & issues! I'm so sorry if I haven't posted to your problems lately or forgot to say Thank You to anyone over these past couple of weeks, I honestly never tried to ingor or leave out anyone as I'm sure I did!

So anyway, I had another blast of xrays today, don't want my radioactivity to get to low! Then went to see my Neurosurgeon who told me exactly what I knew he would. I'm healing great and there was no damage done from my little fall in the hole at work. He told me to wear my collar untill the pain stopped and to put lots of ice on it. Then told me if it's still hurting in two weeks to call him and we would talk about an MRI. He then wrote me a nice official note stating I was OK to return to work as long as I don't do any heavy lifting and sent me on my way. He said my healing was ahead of the curve and looked great> I didn't mention my smoking!

I took the note to my place of employement and gave a copy to out HR girl and waited for Mr. Wacko Boss to return. He passed my office, saw me in there and continued walking down the hall like he didn't have time to stop and talk to me. So I chased him down the hallway and caught him infront of his office. He turned and without any greeting he said, when can you come back? I said tomorrow, he said, did you get a Dr's letter of release? Yes, I gave it to Madeline.  He said OK and close his door behind him as he went in his office! End of Story!

So, I'll be getting up at 4:00am and be into work at 6:00am tomorrow morning. I have a big feeling I haven't heard the last of this mess! To be continued tomorrow night!

Pete,
Good luck tomorrow but you know what I'm gonna say - please, go easy on yourself! Your neck may be healing fine, but it's a process that will take months. Please think about the smoking now, as you want that fusion to work! And that knee...I hope you follow up if it's still swollen!

Hi Pete,

That is great news that your neck looks OK (although it is frustrating I'm sure since it looks fine, yet is still extra-painful)! That was really low of your boss to give you suck a cold shoulder! I hope everything works out okay when you return to work tomorrow! Best of luck!

Pete buddy, I am so glad that you know that smoking would be bad for your healing. I encourage you to walk into work with your head has high as you can. You are not the problem and they give people sick leave for reasons like yours. The fact that your boss wants to work people like animals and then not care is totally out of line. I know that I work too many hours but part of the reason is so I don't have to work my staff beyond what is right. When one of my staff needs time off, I don't hesitate to let them have it off. Most my staff are not eligible for sick leave or vacation but I make sure they get the time off and I try to let them fill in other hours to make up. It is not the perfect place but I would not be able to face my staff if I worked them and treated them like your boss. Enough said, I get irritated every time I hear this. It is not right. By the way, I hope you have a very blessed day tomorrow. I will pray for you and your boss.

Pete,

So glad your Xray shows you are healing!!  Good luck tomorrow and don't let Freakin Wacko Boss ruin your day.  I can't understand in reality how he can be so mentally cruel, someday.....he is going to get his!

FatherJohn if I could work I would want to be one of your employees!!!  You are amazing!!!

Well, I got to work at 6:15 this morning. It was pouring down rain the whole way to work so rather that driving at my usual 80-85mph, I was down to 55-60mph. I hate hydroplaning in my little Chinese racing car! (Hunda) Hell, I can't even spell it! You know, one of those little korean things! I sure miss my big Ram truck which is retired up in the country w/ my wife to pull horse & boat trailers! Back to work! My e-mail was full of nastygrams from my boss! He didn't even have the guts to come talk to me as he knows I'll get mad and start yelling at him! After each note he wrote, I don't want to have to discuss this with you! Then I came upon one from our HR girl. It seems the note I gave her from my Doc yesterday was not written on a propper letterhead and she told me it was no good and I'd have to supply her with another! My doc was in a great hurry running a hour and a half behind and just punched the note out quickly on his PC. How embarassing to have to call the Dr's office and tell them that my employer thinks I forged the note the Doc signed and gave me. I guess technicly by law she was probably right but come on!!! I'm the one who played the game their way and never even thought about a law suit! The boss did his best to igore me today and I just sneared at him every time I saw him. Then my pal Flash showed up with a delivery. He's the Jamakenb guy who was with me when I fell in the hole. He told me he couldn't believe it when the boss called him and asked if it really happened!!! Talk about firing my jets!
Flash told him that yes, he did see me fall and also that I was in so much pain after it happened that I was nearly crying. He also told him that he had to help me out to the truck afterwords! Good man that Flash! I relly didn't even know if he saw me fall or not, I wasn't thinking about that at the time! So why must this guy treat me like this? Like I'm a lier and a fraud? I've worked there for 3 & 12/ years and never stole a thing, never lied to him and never filled out an accident report even though I've been hurt more times than I can even remember! I don't know, I feel like he wants to either get ridf of me or make it so difficult to work there that I'll quit! I'm starting to dislike the man, if you can call him a man, a whole lot! Like FJ said, maybe I'll pray for him?

I'm really concerned that you may not be protecting yourself enough legally, and that your boss just may be looking for an excuse to let you go, especially if he called the guy who saw you fall....and all these nastygrams. I hope you copied them and bring them home!

No one likes legal stuff or Worker's comp stuff but what if that knee does start giving serious trouble? What if you boss does find a reason to let you go - your doc put a period in the wrong spot on a form. Whatever. I've had it done to me. It was no fun to get a call while I was home a month out from lumbar fusion surgery and be told I was being laid off and would only have 1 month of insurance left. I had given them all the paperwork as if it was an FMLA leave, as my supervisor told me to do to protect my job. But technically I wasn't covered by FMLA because I hadn't quite worked the # of hours needed as a part timer. Thing is they laid off my supervisor, who had been there 25 years, before they called me. She after 25 years was called up to a meeting, escorted back to her office and told to get her personal things and escorted out to her car. And this is in health care. I know it's even worse in business.

I think you're trying to be a good guy but your boss is anything but. If I were you I'd make sure at least everything about that fall has been formally reported on paper in accordance with HR and your state's W.C. regulations. Just in case. And that all your i's and t's are dotted and crossed so you can take legal action if needed.

I just don't trust wacko boss! Fact is, that should be the title of your novel!!!

PA> Thanks aND i KNOW YOU'RE RIGHT, AS USUAL! The thing is, I've been e-mailing nastygrams to my home e-mail adress ever since I started there! I have so many where he is swearing at us, belittling us and down right being cruel & mean to us! Pete didn't just fall off the turnip truck! Today, I was going through all my e-mails trying to get rid of anything that he might use against me and luckily, there wasn't too much in there just in case he already looked!
When I first started there and realized what kind of person he was, I started keeping them here at home as an insurance policy just incase something like what is happening now ever happened! I think I have enought to paint a pretty good picture of the kind of boss he is. I'm also saving copies of everything about this episode including the e-mails of him telling me to go over to that warehouse and what to look for. He's not that smart! He spent quite a bit of time in the crowbar hotel for selling drugs (white powder kind) back in the 80's and I believe thats how he got enough $$$ to start his business! Anyway, I really hope it doesn't come to that! We'll just have to wait and see.

Crowbar hotel - love it!

We've got your back as much as possible! TonyMcGuire had suggested somethings about getting rid of your work connection to this site. That would probably be a good idea, but I don't know how to really get all that stuff erased so he can't find you here.
