Along the lines of this weekend's klutch, what is everybody doing this weekend for FUN?

Last night we grilled some Copper River Salmon. Only comes to the store once a year and we treated ourselves at $20 a lb. I did it over an Alder wood fire, Northwest style. My wife made a potato and onion saute skillet that we love along with some corn on the cob. It was the best! If you have not had it, Copper River Salmon absolutely melts in your mouth. Very creamy texture and mild wonderful flavor. All enhanced by the Alder wood smoke. I'm getting hungry again just describing it!

What are the rest of you doing or have done?

I am inviting my youngest daughter's first boyfriend to dinner and an afternoon visit tomorrow. I just got back in touch with him and his mother and sister on facebook, and found out that he lives one hour away from us, so since he is in the area, I thought we should get together again. Secretly, my fondest wish is that one day my daughter and he will get back together one day. Alas, she is presently in a realtionship that I don't approve of. Oh well, nothing I can do about that.

Meanwhile, my husband and I still enjoy this man's company. I will invite my oldest daughter and her children as well. It will be a little party and I will make two big pots of arroz con pollo (chicken and yellow rice.) This is one of my specialties and I know he will enjoy a home cooked meal.

I smile at your post, our kids just don't always make the decisions that we would like do they? wink   I wonder if our parents ever thought the same about us?

Well Modelmaker I will just take your word about how good the Salmon is! But I think just about all foods tastes better cooked over a wood fire! I guess I am more of a Steak person!

I have been thinking about making a Peach pie,  and putting a steak on the grill! But don't have much in the way of plans for this weekend other than working on the house!

My husband works on Monday so I guess we will grill Slidders, chicken, meatloaf style and italian today. With all the homemade condiments like garlic, parmesan mayo spread. A dill spead and another one I will google for something new.

I love to BBQ but its raining here. So I guess the handy dandy stove will have to do it.

I spent yesterday planting flowers and tomatoes, peppers and a few green beans. I plant all the vegies in Pots that are raised so I don't have to bend over to work with them on harvest the goodies. Also planted a few new shrubs to make the place look better. After overdoing it, maybe why I did not sleep last night, my wife and I sat on our porch, enjoyed the flowers and a glass of iced tea. I am going to have lunch with my son (just dad and son). I like it when I get a chance to go with just one of the kids. My daughter calls it a daddy date when its just us even though she is 18. The only dates she has ever been on. Hope every one has  relaxing day.

I like steaks too. Try grilling them on Hickory or Mesquite wood. If that smoke flavor is too strong, try Cherry, much sweeter.

I found a place on the internet that sells all different kinds of wood chips and chunks for grilling. Lots of fun experimenting. My wife never used to like smoke flavor in her food but now she loves it. Nectarine smoked chicken breast is great!

Enjoy tomorrow! Remember, all pain goes to the back burner!

Yesterday I went to my sister's college graduation (although she officially graduated this past Dec). It was 4 hours long, uh!! 1200+ graduates! Then afterword we went to her boyfriend's parents house for a graduation party with all of his extended family. Today we had our family over for Memorial Day hamburgers (although we had a nasty nasty thunderstorm as soon as we put the burgers on the grill, so they came out a little interesting). Tomorrow I'm not sure about. I may end up staying home, but everyone else is going to a graduation party at my sister's best friend's house, and the we are dropping in to a huge Memorial day party at my sister's boyfriend's parents again. Busy busy weekend!
