New PM doc for Modelmaker!

Good news! I was able to find a new PM doc. You may recall my incidents with the other doc leading up to a melt down (his meltdown) one day. As I said, I made the decision that day to end the relationship and look for a new doc.

After some searching of records and talking with my primary, we decided on a new pain mgt. group. Seven docs, all board certified in anesthesia and board certified in pain management as sub specialty! Lots of state of the art equipment for procedures in the office. C-arms, RFs, spinal suites, the works. I am very excited about meeting my doc this Thursday (June 18). The first meeting is for evaluation only, no meds prescribed at first appointment. I will be about running out by then. I'm not sure if there is any flexibility on that policy or not. Otherwise I am going to be in trouble. Fortunately I have retain a few extra tabs in reserve for emergencies like this but it is not a month's supply. I know the reason for the policy is to prevent people from "doctor hopping" just to get scripts written. We'll see about that.

This change is coming none too soon. My back is beginning to fail me on a pretty regular basis. That's why I'm up here at 12:30 in the early morning hours posting. I have taken my limit of oxy and am still in a lot of pain and can't sleep. I had my grandson over while his parents took in movie and dinner out for a birthday treat! That little guy is sudh a handful. 22 lbs. of pure energy and excitment. We took him to a park and let him run. I know I picked him up too many times off the slides and the swings. I knew it was going to hurt but he was having such a great time with his grandpa I couldn't resist! His mom thinks his smile is just like mine. I hope that is a compliment!

My second lunesta is starting to do its thing. I've rambled on long enough but thanks for listening.

Modlemaker, it must be the lunesta because I took mine hours ago and I am still awake. My post surgery pain is very low and now the leg and foot pain is noticable. I know the routine. I know you are paying the price for doing too much at the park but be honest, if you had it to do over again, you would do the same thing right. I am also glad you found a new PMS. Sounds like they are well equipped, I will pray that they have the right heart as well.

I second fatherjohn's words - that they have the right heart as well as equipment! Let us know how you make out.

Maybe you can have your primary call in advance and explain the meds situation? Or maybe your primary would give you something to tide you over if it's needed.

Oh, I long to pick up children and pets without thinking about it. Except for the little ones, it seems those days are behind me. But there's always a knee to sit on. Glad you had a meaningful, fun time with your grandson!

My PM's office said the same thing but when they found out I was out they went ahead and wrote the script. I think they say this just in case they get a patient in who might be a drug seeker then they have an out on writing a script. Plus if you have all your records with you that helps them. They are trained and realize if you have been on meds continuously they shouldn't push you into withdrawls.

But I'm happy you found a PM. I also have a clinic group of 7 doctors with a surgical building next door for their doctors to do almost any procedure. Its wonderful to have such knowledge and equitment at your disposal.

Sounds like you have found a good group of Doc's!  I agree with Laurie about your scripts!

I'm glad you enjoyed your time with your Grandson, sometimes ya just gotta do what makes you feel happy.  Sometimes, the extra pain we cause ourselves is worth it turn

Hi Modelmaker,

I'm glad to hear that you found a new doc! It sure sounds like a state of the art place! I hope the docs are just as good, if not better, than the facility! I can't imagine them giving you any trouble with your refill, since you are clearly switching to them, but then again, I don't know their rules.

I'm sorry to hear that you are hurting, though. Sometimes it is hard to resist overdoing it, but for playing with your grandson, it sounds like it was worth it! I hope you are feeling better today!
