Well it looks like I'm having surgery..AGAIN! The MRI of my shoulder was a mess. I have a complete tear of the rotator cuff and a tear of the labrim. I see the surgeon Mon. to see if he will just repair the rotator cuff or have to replace the whole shoulder. I thought this was my year to stay out of a surgery suite. Guess not. I'm feeling a little hopeless now. I'm still in so much generalized pain that I can hardly walk now. I wish they would figure out something.

Hi nurse,

I'm so sorry to hear about your shoulder! The surgeon is thinking about replacing the entire joint!? Wow! You poor thing. I've been through 3 shoulder surgeries myself, so I know what a bear they are, but I cannot imagine having my shoulder replaced... I hope that they can just fix the injuries!

I too know the frustration of not having any answers & being in an incredible amount of pain, and with worsening symptoms. I'm in that boat myself. I wish I knew what to say, or could find the magic answer for you! Don't give up! Keep fighting! I know that someone, someday, will be able to crack your case & help you! ((((((nuse2))))))). I'm also sorry about your bad news. I don't know as much about shoulder surgeries as skeye does, but any surgery takes so much out of us - especially when we go into it facing regular CP.

I wish you all the best and hope that the minimum amount of surgery is all that's needed.

Hi Nurse,

I too am so sorry you're having to deal with this. You sure don't need it at all!! I don't really know much about shoulder surgeries except what I've seen on university television. But once they get it fixed you should be pain free in that area. I sure do wish you luck.

I am sorry for you Nurse, I've also had three shoulder surgeries and know just how hard they are to recover from. Unfortunately the shoulderis the most complicated joint in the body because of its range of movement. I hope you have a good surgeon, mine completely stuffed my joint up for about 3 years and I was only 22 young and fit and very healthy. It was my first foray into chronic pain! My heart goes out to you and I really hope that they fix the joint, I realise medicine has advanced a long way in the last 30 odd years so I'm not trying to worry you. But I do empathise with the pain! Its late and I'm not thinking straight but I'm sending positive vibes,golitho.

Nurse2,

I will say a prayer that it will be the surgery that gives you the most relief.  My brother just had Rotator repair...the surgery went great, his recovery was longer then expected.  Overall, he is doing well, just has to be careful lifting things.

You know that we are all here for you!!

Nurse2, I really am sorry you are facing surgery. It is very overwhelming to say the least. Hopefully, the surgeon can repair your shoulder and after the recovery, you'll be much improved. It is a long hard road w/ lots of curves-all the CP. But you know that you have all of our support and well wishes. We will be with you all the way.You will do just fine. Try to relax as best as you can. I know it is easier said than done. But do try...Take care of yourself. And keep us posted on how you are doing. I'll be keeping you in my prayers. Here is a soft hug. A person can never have too many hugs.

My husband has been dealing with a torn rotary cuff for 1 yr now. 1st surgery went well but he scared so much it inflammed everything then frozen shoulder set in. 2nd surgery recut the muscle and cleaned up scar tissue. Now 5 months later his shoulder is frozen again.

I hope yours goes well and recovery is painful, PT starts almost immeditly.

Nurse2, I just wanted to check with you and see how you are doing this morning.
Please let us know when the surgery will be on Monday. Hang in there. Surgery is always scarey. You will be okay. And remember, you aren't alone.

     Dear Nurse2,

 

      I am terribly sorry to hear you are on your last option and must go through surgery.. again! That HAS to be frustraiting in ways I couldnt possibly imagine.  *huggs* Do you have an idea of the time frame they are wanting for surgery? Do you have someone to help you with personal things while you recover? I had a friend who recently had Hip Replacment.. it took 3 months to get "kinda" on her feet. Do shoulder surgeries work the same? And... you probably didnt want quite so many questions, sorry..

I just wanted to thank  you for your kind words and prayers. Tomorrow is the visit with the surgeon so I'll find out them what the plan is. This web site means so much to me because it really helps  talking to others who are in the same boat and who know that we're no complaining about our problems.....just looking for understanding and we certainly get that here. I wanted to wish you well as well with your new shoulder surgery. I had a reconstruction of my right shoulder after a motorcycle accident in 1995, and developed RSD and a frozen shoulder on top of it. PT really needs to happen almost immediately after surgery to prevent the frozen shoulder. It hurts like hades as I'm sure that you are aware of already, so I will be sending up many good thoughts for you, as you get through the surgery and rehab afterward.

Nurse2, Just wanted to let you know you will be inn my thoughts tomorrow as you meet with your surgeon. I also hope the surgery truly makes your life much better and that your function level will be restored in a short time.
