Oxycontin withdrawl- weight loss and other strange symptoms

I have chronic pain from Endometriosis, I've taken oxycontin 30mg twice a day for 2 years.

My pain is finally gone, at least it is for now- after getting an iud put in, plus the meds

I've been withdrawling- for 3 months- going down 5 mgs average in a month and a half- docs rnt much help, I'm doing it myself at home but I see my doc every few weeks, and I'm doing it slowly and carefully.

I've been having some strange symptoms- 1. I've lost like 30 lbs in the past 5 months, and I eat alot

2. By hair doesn't look right!! It never looks clean- evan right after I wash it

I'm going so slowly with my withdrawl I maybe have a day here and there where I'm a little queasy but that's it ! So it's not from symptoms

Any ideas??

The weight loss is worrying me- I'm usually 5'8" and have always been average at about 150 lbs- last checked I was 125lbs- why??? I've told my gp, she gave me blood test req but I've been to tired and worn out from the withdrawl todo it

I also doubt that the lethargy and the weight loss have little to do with the withdrawal. Reducing your dosage by 5 mg a month is not a fast, heavy duty taper, in fact, it is awfully slow. Most patients taper at a much faster pace than what you are doing.
It sounds like you need to get the bloodwork done , which will probably reveal a lot more about why you are loosing weight and so lethargic.

I know when I tried to taper my meds a few years ago, I too lost alot of weight very fast even though I ate normally, actually I ate more healthy then normal. But of course I gained all that weight bacck plus some later lol. I too was average about 155lbs and went down to 130lbs within a month or so. But I know how it feels to be too tierd to get simple things done like blood tests. The other day I just found a bloodwork paper I was suppose to take to the lab to get done from a few years back, but never did it lol. But I guess it wasnt very important as I havent died from anything yet lol. I guess I'm just too scared to get blood work done when 3 years ago they thought I had leukemia cause my whole body was bruised and some other flu like symptoms, but in the end it was just that a doctor was overdosing me in one of my meds. But why wont your doctor help you taper? I just dont get why all these doctors love to get people dependent on meds but when it comes time to taper, they back out and tell you something completly off the wall, and of course alot of people beleive them and suffer needlessly. I wish they would make these doctors take a class on how to taper properly when they are gonna prescribe any pain meds long term, and if they already do take these classes, then they need a new teacher to teach these classes that know what they're doing.

maybe thyroid problems or anemia? I lost over 40 pounds from the combo of those two. I was so run down & can definitely relate to how you're describing just feeling too tired to even go to the doctor. I do hope you feel good enough to go get that blood work done. I know that now that I am on iron & Synthroid I feel a lot better -- and some of the pain has even let up. It's so hard when you feel so exhausted, but I promise it is worthwhile to get a diagnosis so you can get treated & start to feel better.

Is there a friend, family member, neighbor or anyone who can give you a lift to get your blood drawn?
