pain, pain go away!!! (kinda long vent)

I had a large group of people over my house  yesterday for a birthday party for my daughter, now I am paying the price. I really just need to vent as I am overwhelmed. My pain meds oxycodone 15mg and oxycontin 30 mg are not doing much to help t he pain. Last PM  visit they had mentioned a fentanyl patch. do they actually work?? I used them on animals for years when I was a veterinary technician, but always wondered how effective it was for them.

I am afraid to tell the doc t hat the meds are not working for fear that they will just take me off everything and say t hat nothing is working so why bother.

 I also have a pm appt tomorrow and I have a urine sample pending where I tested false positive for extacy! they sent it to a special lab for testing. I am so worried that someone switched my urine and its going to get me kicked out of my pm clinic.

Today the pain is so bad. Muslces joints the works. I just want to be in bed. Painful to the touch, hot stinging nauseating pain.

please keep your fingers crossed about my urine test!!!

Awe Melissa,
I will most certainly keep my finger's crossed for you..
Have you tried using a heating pad? and do you have a tens unit?
just a few things that might help..
Hope your feeling better soon and can get a low pain day..
Keep us posted
and lots and lots of soft hugz..
vent when you need to, everyone is entitled, we care...

Don't do that to yourself! "What if's" will get you every time!! Believe me, there is nothing , absolutely nothing!!!, you can do about them! So please don't waste your time and energy worrying and pondering the "What If's?" It doesn't help your pain and suffering today, and most probably makes it worse! Tomorrow will come and you will have all your answers, or at least some of them!

I hope today gets better for you! and Good Luck tomorrow!

Melissa... sorry you are still in pain.

Don't be nervous... stand firm.... it's your pain and it's not being managed.... so you have every right to let your Dr know....

My Dr started me off on 5mg Percocets and we are working our way up slowly.... now with 15mg's..... I just called the office to check if it was OK if I took one 15mg and a half for a total of 22.5mg of Oxycodone.... I want to make sure my Dr approved the increase before I started taking it.... especially knowing it will show up in my drug tests... we will work together until I am at a point of being comfortable... not pain free.... just comfortable.

Being honest is the best approach..... always

I'm trying to remember from your earlier thread but didn't someone think there was something maybe causing that positive test that could be a supplement or one of your meds or something? You might try rereading all the suggestions that were given there.

I know some others here have used the fentanyl patch. You might try searching the old threads. I just remember some people - some - seem to report difficulties with it sticking, but that may not be in all cases.

Anyway, good luck tomorrow! Let us know how it goes!

Melissa, yes we knew it was coming. We all do it. that is what we said when you described the party coming up and then I remember saying we do what we feel we need to do knowing we will pay the price. Some prices are worth paying for. I am not saying "I told you so." If I was, then I would deserve it right back. Take care of yourself tonight and try and find a way to relax even a little. Worrying about something you have no control over is futile. We can all probably attest to that. I will keep you in mind tomorrow and hope all goes well. I will offer up a prayer as you go in tomorrow. We will be waiting for a report.

Thank again for the support!

I had my pain appointment and my urine was negative for extacy!!!! ( why am I acting surprised its negative..lol) so woo hoo there. One less thing to worry about. But I will say that when you possibly test positive the attitude was different then , as compared to today when they knew I wasnt a drug addict. Much nicer!!

Anyway-

SInce the oxycodone isnt really helping, She said I could try a fentanyl patch instead. I used these alot while working with animals (used them on the animals) So hopefully if I can stick one on a dalmatian, I can get it to stick on me. hahaha. I am also going to try Savella intstead of cymbalta its so new  the pharmacy didnt have it yet and have to order it.

She said i could still have up to 2 oxycodone 15mg a day on top of t he patch.

I really hope this is the right combo.

never thought it would be so hard to find a good pain med.
