Well, I had my rotator cuff repaired and what the doctor found inside was a disaster! There were several spurs to remove and he found only a tiny shred of cartlage so the shoulder is bone on bone. I see the doctor again next week and plan to go ahead and have the shoulder replaced. This year is already screwed because of this surgery so I want to just screw up the rest of this year and get the surgery over with. Arthritis is eating me up....literally. The right shoulder is starting to hurt also so I hope it holds on a while until I get the left one taken care of. I would LOVE to be able to drive again!  Yesterday I had my dental implant and and praise  God it went well and I have had very little pain. He gave me Versed (wonderful, wonderful drug!) and I remember nothing about the procedure. So now is the waiting game of healing and preparing for another major surgery.

I have missed talking to you and hopefully now I can keep up with the wonderful people on this site. I hope you have all been doing fairly well.

nurse2 I amn glad to see you are back with us, yes you have been missed! It sounds like your dental implant went well and I am also happy for you about that! I am sorry that your shoulder is not good. It sounds like you have more than your share of problems. Please know and I am sure you do, that we are all here with you, to support you, through any  and all surgeries you may have! And any other time tooo!  I do hope that your healing goes smoothly! I do hope you are doing OK .

new member - hope you the best with all that is going on in your life, I'm a crohn's patient but deal with arthritis also from extended predizone use for illness and all it entails, but not nearly as many things as you are dealing with. my sincere hope you do well. joined to meet others with similiar problems and have a support group with input also.

Hi nurse2,

Welcome back! I'm so glad to hear that everything went well & you are healing, but am very sorry to hear the news about needing a shoulder replacement! Do they have to wait until you completely heal from your rotator cuff surgery before they go ahead with the replacement? It sounds terrifying! I can't even imagine! I hope that everything goes well & that the new joint will ultimately bring you relief of pain!

I'm not sure how long I have to wait for the shoulder replacement. I see the doctor Aug. 13th so I will find out then. I just want to get it over with so I don't miss any more time with my grandchildren. I can't even hold them right now. We are having a "Fancy Nancy" birthday party at our house Sun. for our granddaughter who will be turning 3yrs. old. I'ts after a book that the two of us read. My one grandson who is 18 mon. old is as big as the 3yr. old and I just can't handle him. The baby is 7mon. old and I'm really afraid to even hold him. I don't want to miss out on anymore than I have to and I'm sure my husband would like a break, too. He never complains....just drives me anywhere. I am really blessed.
Whitebeard...I am so sorry to hear that you continue to have such a horrible time of it. I hope you get some well deserved sleep tonight!

Just wanted to let you know you are in my thoughts and prayers.....bone on bone really leaves little choice but to replace! 

I had both knees replaced 3 yrs. ago (bone on bone 6 wks apart) from the 1st steps I noticed relief...if only the neck fixed like those...life would be good!

Nurse2...I am so sorry about all the problems with your shoulder...I do have a question...My shoulder hurts all the time...one morning I woke up and it looked like it was out of the socket...I couldn't move it and it was leaning forward like it was dislocated... Every now and then it pops cracks and just plain hurts...  I have the same thing going on with my knee andf the Doc says its arthritis.... Could it be the same thing in my shoulder?

Hey Me, your shoulder can do something called subluxing when it partially dislocates and that can really hurt, I'd say if it was fully dislocated you would really know about it. Agony!!! Why don't you see a physio about it? Or a doctor? It doesn't sound right to be hurting you like that.
Nurse I hope you recover well and good luck with your spec visit, lets hope the second surgery can happen quickly for you. It seems amazing they can just replace these joints now and have such success with it too. Lovely to have you back, golitho

Sorry to hear about all your suffering with the shoulder. Depending on your insurance maybe you should try to get your second surgery in before the end of the year. I had both my lumbar and cervical fusion surgeries done in one year. By the time the lumbar was completed I had met all of my out of pocket expenses for the year so the cervical fusion was pretty much free other than my hospital stay co-pay. Thought I'd try to save you some money. It stinks after having a major surgery to have to worry about all the bills coming in while your trying to recoup.

You're exactly right about the insurance thing. Our yearly deductible is $4,500 per patient/family and we have already met this so that's another reason why I want to have the surgery this year. Plus I know that my other doc wants to do another nerve ablation if the headaches still persist and that's big buck also. I can't seem to get anything wrong with me that is cheap to fix. I would faint, I'm sure, if I knew how much money has been spent on me medically since I was born because I've been sick all of my life.
