on 19th of August, I was scheduled to have RFA (radiofrequency ablation) for c-spine and so my daughter was also due up north
at the University of North Texas. Well, my husband took our daughter and I had arraiged for a ride for my RFA as the clinic
offers a pickup service, we'll their drive was late, but the nurses knew this, so I start filling in the paperwork and low
and behold they'd made a mistake, long story short, the drive had to bring me home without the procedure being done
on the 19th, but they apologized and scheduled me for the following morning..(of course I was very mad, but it couldn't been helped)

So on the 20 August, I had the RFA done, I expected to be sore, but the amount of soreness has exceded what I expected! and
my left arm was numbed, pin and needles and I started dropping things, well they called me back on Friday and said the
numbness would go away over the weekend..

Well it's not gone yet, I'm still numb, have pins and needles and major soreness, I've tried to help out here but
it's very very difficult for me and I hope Y'all will understand..I'm thinking of y'all and have said prayers, and I wish I could answer your
postings and send on my HUGZ, but even typing this bring lots of tears to my eye's and hurt so very bad, I miss ya my firends
and will send my HUGZ from this posting..

Please pass on my HUGZ to everyone and I've seen a lot of MIA's (missing in action and sure hope, Skeye, Pete, FatherJohn and
WhiteBeard along with anice and Susie (straydogs) well i hope y'all are okay and you have my HUGZ, please post your up-dates...dani, pete and palady I want tooth updates...

Char I am sorry you are doing so badly. I had the RF done on both my neck & back. It helped my neck much more than the back. I think many times they say it can take up to 2 weeks for things to settle down. I sure hope yours starts happening real soon. I am doing the same as you, dropping things with my right hand not know it till it hits the floor. My dr says it carpal tunnel in both hands right much worse. I was given a script to go to a brace place and get fitted. I have severe pain in my hands when I wake up. I am suppose to sleep in the braces at night. Hugs.

I've never had an RF, but I hope it starts getting better for you soon! Don't worry about not being able to type posts to us - we know you're with us in spirit. Please know we're sending you out wishes for speedy healing.

I would have been furious about the date mix up - if that meant you could have gone with your husband (although as I remember you didn't think you could take the long drive). Anyway, I hope it all ends well, and when you can write a longer post and let us know how your entire situation is going!

Oh, Char!!! I don't know much about RF, but that numbness & tingling sounds really scary! When do you see your doctor again? If you don't see him for a while, maybe you should give a call again just to make sure that this is normal. I really do hope you start feeling better soon & that you start feeling some relief from this procedure. Hang tight. I hope your daughter is adjusting well to being away at college. I'm sure you miss her tons! ((((((((((Char)))))))))))).

well it's been a week and I'm still numb and very sore and doing the ice, heat and streching and exercises....
i guess they think if your numb and sore then hey the pains gone, eh...new method of pain control...

Anyhow, on a phone call with my mom, she told me she had an echocardiogram done and she has mild aortic stenosis,
and that her dad, my grandpa had a admnormal heart beat...yet when she was asked by my daughters doctors
if there was a heart condition in the family she said "NO" as my daughter had open heart surgery for critical Aortic stenosis...
so I'm mad that she lied to the doctors about grandpa's condition even though he lived to be 94...and it has me wondering if I need to see a cardiologist too...
so many things and this too..................plus before my procedure the doctor comes over and says you have a heart mur mur, i was like what????
So i'll freakout for awhile, now and try to think what to do.....

Oh, when it rains it does seem to pour for many of us here - especially lately!

Yep - freakout for awhile, but then figure out what to do.

I can't believe your mother lied about that knowing your daughter was having problems? I'd be a little ticked, to say the least.

Well I think you have every reason to be upset and mad, but with that aside, I think you should be looking for a good Cardiologist which from the sounds of it you might already know of one! You definitely need to have that murmur checked out,  and with your family history I would not wait to long to have done!

Ok what is this trouble you are having with this RFA  that you  had? Is this considered a normal reaction to RFA? What about you dropping things, have you lost strength in your arm or hand or both? or is it because your arm is numb? Or is your reflex es gone? When you had this done where did they do it ? Was it at the nerve root coming out of the spine? and which one? Sorry for all the questions, but I see the neurosurgeon the 1st of Sept. and if he can't help me, I was thinking about maybe considering having RFA, but with the trouble your having I am not at all sure that is the thing to do!

Chart I am sorry for what you are going through! I remember your other post about your daughter going away to college, and now all this is happening to you! When are you ever going to be "cut some slack" and "given a break" You do certainly deseerve it! and it is long over due!

Don't you love medical procedures, cure one thing and cause another. Numbness sounds as if they've bruised a nerve or something!!! I suffer from numbness from carpel tunnel or sometimes swelling from RA and its no joke that burning pain wakes me up terriby. I'd be on their case trying to find some answers. It surely can't be the norm? The splints help with carpel tunnel but not if its coming from your neck, which sounds as if it is in your case!!! Ring them up again and harass them, best of luck, golitho

Char, I have several things that I want to address from your comments on this thread and possibly the previous one. I can not imagine the frustration of having to leave and go back the next day after what took place about you not being able to go to take your daughter. The emense feelings of helplessness had to be past the stage of frustration. Next, the result of the RFA (really frustrating Afternoon) not anywhere close to your expectations and still not knowing what to expect. And then if that is not enough, throw in the heart murmur history or selective non history you are due for some venting. You can only due and take care of things that are in your control.

Getting an appointment with the same cardioligist might prove interesting. History of heart desease in the family? Yes but No to those family members who live in denial. I encourage you to have it checked out. Murmurs can be big things or little things but they need to be checked out. The family history is a major factor to be considered.

On the numbness and other issues from the RFA (really frustrating afterwards stuff, I would be making a call just to see what the all wise all knowing medical wizards can tell you about what you are experiencing.

Just a quick not so funny story but yet stagering. One of the headlines this week in the medical arena was a man had his apendix taken out and two weeks later he was back in the hospital because it burst. Maybe he had two who knows. I really hope you have a blessed and even short reprive from all that is going on.

Hi Char!

I'm so very sorry life is miserable right now. And then the shock of mother's lies...I think that one would hurt me too. My guess would be she's in denial? Either way it's over now, the damage is done but it's time to push on for you, your own children and hubby. It sounds like those around you are doing everything they can to help so at least there's that to be grateful for. Sometimes you have to look hard to find the tiny silver lining. Try to relax and get extra rest...I'm sure you're tired of hearing that...but do enjoy hubby and others who are around you right now. I hope you are keeping the doc informed on the numbness. That's just not right and it's painful. Will say extra prayers for you Char.

Well,
my pt said it's not normal and I'm still numb, but my doctor is out until tomorrow and I have to see the ENT
for my ear infection, and on top of that my lower back on the right side, has spasmed out over 20 times today so far...
during pt (physical therapy) even after the ultra sound treatment...my right side has never done this, so it's like what
the heck...I've not done anything out of the norm....
I appreciated all the response and wanted to say y'all have my "Thanks" and hopes that I'll have some good news soon!
