Since I have been put on Celexa ( I take it just before bed) I wake up hungry,no actually starving ! Is this a normal reaction to this medication?

Hi White Beard,
I can't answer your question, as I'm really not familiar with Celexa, but I do know that some anti-depressants can cause changes in your eating habits. Probably the best source of information would be your doctor or pharmacist, but maybe the folks over at the depression forum could help you out as well. There might be more people over there who are familiar with Celexa. Sorry I can't be of more help!

Whitebeard the answer is YES! I have taken this med for 3 years now. They blame part of my weight gain to this med..lol It triggers the chemical seritonine sp? which makes you ephoric, happy which in turn increases hunger.
I don't eat much from the med but it makes you want to eat some of the foods that are rich tasting which means more calories..lol You will now want a peice of cake with a glass of milk..lol
But I love the way Celexa makes me feel so an extra few pounds is ok. My water gain creates most of it though..lol
