I have a general followup with my PCP next week in regards to my toe infection, the epidural I had and an "How's every thing going" type of visit.
The only good news is my toe. It is healing slowly but just fine. I had a podiatrist look at it a few days ago and he said all things considered he does not expect any problems.
The rest of it is not looking so well. The steroids I had before and during the epidural are still wrecking havoc with my blood sugar. I have almost tripled my insulin and the best reading I can get is about 200. For those who are not in the know BS readings of 80-100 are considered "normal" and my personal target at this time is under 120. (Yes I am diabetic. 10+ years)
Then it looks like the epidural is going to be a wash. I felt pretty good, as compared to how I normally feel, for 3 or 4 days after the procedure but now every bit of pain I had is back with more frequent flair up. At least so far it is not constantly worse like after the facet injections.
Also I have come to a decision on the Dilaudid I have been prescribed. I am not going to take any more of it at the current dose and time regimen I have been given. It only provided me about 45 min to an hour of relief and I am only suppose to take it every 8 hours as needed. To me the rate of return is not worth putting more chemicals into my body so I am going to take the rest of the script in with me and give it to my doc with an explanation of the why. I just hope I am not having a real bad pain day that day cause I only want to state and discuss the facts and not come across as an azz.
