Question to Oxy IR users....

 

 

Hey everyone....hope everybody had a Merry Christmas....

Here is a question to all of you out there in HW land that take a pain med for long-term use and also take Oxy IR 15 or 30 mg. for the BT pain....I take Methadone, 120 mg. a day and Oxycodone IR 30 mg. 4 times a day....I have noticed, from the beginning that when I take the Oxy's I get severe burning in my upper back along with pain...sometimes I also get major headaches that nothing will get rid of.....

 

Has anyone else had this happen?  Is this something that Oxy does to our system?  I have no idea but I know that I DO NOT LIKE IT AT ALL!!!!!

A fairly common side effect of opiods are headaches. Some are more likely than others to cause them but they all can.

I agree with Skye though. My first hunch is that the burning pain is probably an allergic reaction. It is possible, and not uncommon, to be able to handle "X" amount of a med or a med combo and not have any reactions but as soon as that threshold is passed...boom. Allergies and/or side effects come into play.

I am that way with Vicodin. I can take 1 every 18 hours and I am fine. More than that and I am on my knees recycling everything in my stomach and then some.

I have been taking oxycontin 15mg and I believe I am having an allergic reaction to it. I tried taking my hydrocodone as well and I am having the same thing happen.

I take the painkiller and it gives me a horrible tension in my head, makes my lymph nodes swell up pretty badly, my neck hurts from the swollen lymph nodes, and I get pretty bad anxiety (worse than it already is). Sometimes it even makes my muscle spasms even worse.

My question is this: Has anyone with a similar problem try another painkiller and not have the problem?

I looked up the inactive ingredients and this is the list:

ammonio methacrylate copolymer, hypromellose, lactose, magnesium stearate, polyethylene glycol 400, povidone, sodium hydroxide, sorbic acid, stearyl alcohol, talc, titanium dioxide, triacetin, black iron oxide, yellow iron oxide, and red iron oxide.

I figure its a combo of nasty ingredients thats causing me an allergic reaction. I hear the new oxycontin which I would get if I refilled it has BHT as well.

It's been a while (I think :) I'm a little slow on the memory department right now.

I take oxy IR, but only the 5 mg 4x a day. They don't make me feel bad at all...in fact, they are really working well when I take them, the Ultracet, and the Dilaudid 4x a day too.

I'm sorry I don't have a real answer for you, but Oxy works great for me.

man im on nothing, and i am sweating and nervous because i stopped taking my meds. my doctor never even replied to my statement, "i think im having an allergic reaction to my pain meds".


I guess I will have to wait for an appointment for him to address my problem.

i feel like crap as usual....blahhhhh

looks like he's sending me some "plain" codeine. He had to mail me the script though because walgreens ( i really need to find a good independently run pharmacy) wouldn't take it through fax. I have no idea on the dosage. I figure it probably needs to be fairly high since I was on 15mg OxyContin.

I guess I'll find out when I get it in the mail. I'm praying its before the weekend so I can relax.
