Pain is almost unbearable!

I have spent the last several days in almost unbearable pain. The pain radiates from my left shoulder down the the palm of my hand. The right shoulder and arm are also  having the same symptoms. Today I could not get out of bed until 10:30am. I was having feelings of being electricuted in both shoulders, arms and across my back. Each time I tried to get up it was almost  too much to handle. I thought I would be physically sick. There is something wrong with my hearing too. My ears continue to feel "full" like I've been in a pool or something. I'm also having vision problems from the continuous muscle relaxors. I have problems with astigmatism (sp?) and I see double a lot. I have to really, really concentrate to see only one object. Don't worry....I'm not driving remember. It does play havic with your balance. Praise God I was able to get in to the Pain Management group quickly as I go next Tues. If anyone is interested in buying stock these days my money is on Bengay! I use it like other people use hand lotion. It doesn't really help much but it makes me feel like I'm at least trying to do something to help myself. If this pain group is not able to help me I don't know what I will do. I can feel depression setting in as I cry very easily these days and don't see the light at the end of the tunnel like I used to. I'm a fighter though or I wouldn't have gotten this far. Please God....help us all.

Is your pain coming from you neck? What your describing sure sounds like nerve root impingement or even problems with the cervical spinal cord! Is everything alright with your fusions? When is the last time they have checked you in that area? You should not be having that type of pain, what you are describing really does concern me! This is scary stuff, what has your Doctor have to say about it? Aren't you taking Baclofen for your muscle spasms, what is your dosage? are you taking it every 8 hours, around the clock? Are you taking any other muscle relaxers or antispasmodics? Something does not sound right, with your vision and all, Please be careful, and talk with your doctor about all of this! And please do it soon!

I just read in the other post that it was the RSD that was causing your pain in your shoulders and arms. I do wish I could just do something that could help you and take away all your pain, and the spasms, I do know what that is like! Know that I keep you in my prayers, and wish and pray that you get better and the pain and spasms go away!

My goodness nurse2 I am so , so sorry for what your going thru , shouldn't you go to the emergency room or something ? Get admitted so at least you'll be where the doctors are , and maybe they can help you somehow .What you dwscribe sounds like torture and i'll pray hard for you nurse2 , nobody should suffer so , I'm so sorry for your pain .As I have no president in this type of pain please try to stay positive , Iknow that must be hard , all your friends here will be praying for you .

Hi Nurse2,

 

I really do hate to hear that you are having the problems with this severe pain again. You have this appt coming up and I sure hope they know alot about RSD. It is and can be a very debilitating disease as you well know. So, I am assumng your Baclfen and Fentynl patches are just not cutting it and giving you any relief. When you see those drs next week, please do tell them you feel like depression may be setting in on you. They can give you something for that, don't try to just handle it on your own, you are dealing with too much as it is.

 

I just wish I could offer up something here to help you out and make you feel better, I just don't know what it would be. But, I am sending you a big ole hug.

I wish I had some magic solution to offer you. What you're going through is so debilitating, but we know you're doing all you can to hang in there until your next appointment. Like Straydog said, I hope these docs know about RSD (CRPS); if not, maybe take their help initially and look around for someone who specializes in it. Some teaching hospitals have clinics that specialize only in that, but that might involve traveling. Right now you need more immediate help.

I know none of us like ER's but if it gets any worse before Tuesday and you can't find someone to help maybe you'll need to go to the ER. I hope you won't need to - that something eases up for you.

Please know I'm thinking of you and sending healing thoughts!

Thanks to everyone for their kind words and especially the prayers. I am feeling a little better this am. I have decided to go shopping with my best gal pal today. I am packing my heating pad and my inverter so that I can keep the muscle relaxed as much as possible. I have had about 45 min. sleep. Have you ever had to take a car into the shop, say for a noise, only to get to the shop and the car will not make that noise? I plan to do everything that aggrivates me on Mon. so that on Tues. the doctor can see just how bad I get. I feel sorry for my husband for having to ride over 2 hrs. each way to the appt. with me as sometimes I want to jump out of the car when all of this starts. I know that I'm probably not doing myself any favors either but I desperately need help and I need for them to see just how bad it gets! I am taking 10mg to 20mg of Baclofen every 8 hours and keep the Duragesic pain patch on all of the time. I take Percocet's for breakthrough pain but nothing seems to relieve this mess that I am in. I do hope that this doctor is able to give me something stronger for the pain on Tues. although he may not want to on the first visit. I have an appt. with my neurosurgeon on March 23rd. to have x-rays and an exam. Thanks again to all of my HW family for listening. I do take Cymbalta for depression but it was mostly prescribed for the fibro which was a Godsend.

Nurse2 ,honey I really do not think you should go out on the limb and get your body maxed out on the pain cycle. That would really be a bad mistake because there is no telling how long it will take for your body to settle back down and why put yourself through that. If this dr is worth his salt at all he should be able to tell by way of an examination of you and reviewiing your medical records to know that you really need help. People that get themselves all worked up into severe pain levels really do not make the drs think any differently. They know this is not the normal 24/7 pain a person lives in, otherwise they would be parked at ER on a regular basis. Please don't do this, drs are smart, they know when someone is real and when they aren't. If anything it may not make you look so favorable in his eyes. I think you will do just fine going in "as is" without all the hoopla, you have enough ammo in way of medical records and an exam. Please rethink what I am saying.

I have to agree with straydog on this, but one suggestion would be to go to the CP101 thread and use the link to the pain journal. Keep a pain journal for the next few days and take it with you. Then your doctor will be able to see the ups and downs, etc.

Hi Friends,
I have decided to follow the suggestions of not getting myself into a mess before our trip to the doctor tomorrow. I was sick all night last night. I was fine one minute and then BAM I was dizzy and nauseated to the max. I went straight to bed but lying down made the nausea worse and sitting up made the dizziness and pain worse. I was up and down, carrying a trash can with me in case I vomited. What a night! Anyway about 4 am. it went away as fast as it came so I'm just going to do my "normal" routine today and see what happens. Big prayers for tomorrow for the doctors open heart and mind while hearing my saga. Oh, wouldn't it be grand to find some real help? I hope everyone has a good day.
