Ecstatic over pain validation!

Hi everyone!  It's been a long time since I've posted on here.  Mainly because I can't relate to a lot of the people that are on pain meds and need help (I'm allergic to many pain meds so I can't take them), however I do read the posts sometimes.

But I thought I would create a post to see if anyone is as weird as I am!     I have been having a lot of lower back pain for the majority of my life.  Went to many doctors but they didn't have any answers for me.  Then the pain increased to encompass my entire back - from the end of my skull to the end of my tailbone.  The progression was slow but painful nonetheless.  I have had EVERY kind of test imaginable but yet doctors couldn't find the cause of my pain other then having two bulging discs in my neck.  That gave me some answers to a couple a things. 

So I finally decided to give a chiropractor a go.  He did xrays and validated my pain.  Why, in all these years I thought I HAD every test imaginable but not one single doctor did xrays!  It turns out that my entire spine is messed up.  So FINALLY after having someone tell me that I am NOT crazy and that the pain I am experiencing is very real I am just ecstatic!  Does that make me weird??? LOL

I am glad you found validation. I know chronic pain is invisible. I often get the feeling that not everyone believes we are in the amount of discomfort that we say we are. It is nice when we find a doctor that listens. I hope there is appropriate treatment for your back problems. Do not stay a stranger. Please keep us posted.

I had the feeling that my primary doc was starting to think I was a hypochondriac - not quite sure she believed me. She felt like her hands were tied because all the tests were coming out negative and I can't take hardly any pain meds. I've been to a neurologist, a rheumatologist, a pain management doctor, I've had accupuncture, EMG's, numberous blood tests, MRI's, CT scans but I just find it astonishing and almost ridiculous that not a single xray was taken. Never crossed my mind at the time to be honest.

One visit with the chiro and I found out my neck is poker straight instead of having a curve, my cervical/Thoracic area is bowed out to the right like a scoliosis spine and I have bone spurs and some OA in there, my lumbar spine is a bit to the right and twisted, my right hip and right SI joints is higher then my left and my tailbone is curved to the right. I guess I am a righty!

But thanks for letting me know that I am just not some weirdo who gets tickled over a diagnosis. I guess after suffering for so many years that I am just relieved to finally have answers to my problems that were previously elusive.

I have found that just having my SI joint out of alignment alone created numerous problems, although I had a lot more going on. SI joint still comes out, and my PT know how to roll it back in gently. I do tightening exercises for the ligaments, and sometimes wear an SI joint belt - just a small belt to tighten the ligaments for a few weeks. Most docs don't understand a lot of this.

Yeah, it's not like I WANT this to be wrong with me but just happy to have answers. I kept my complaints fairly quiet because I felt if I let anyone know how much pain I was in that they too would view me as just a whiner. I have a very high pain tolerance so even I knew something wasn't right but I was starting to doubt my sanity.

So I have 30 visits scheduled with the chiro, he then is going to do some more xrays to see if the alignments are helping. If not, he said we will cross that road when we get to it. Btw, I found this chiro guy thru ratemds.com He was given a 5 out of 5 as a good doc. Ratemd's is a good site to go to if you are trying to find a good doctor in your area.
