I threw up my medicine...I think...

Hi Flower,
I hope you are doing better by this time a little over an hour after you posted. First of all, have you had your tongue checked for the vomiting? Sounds weird huh? Well I need to back up and say this, I am NOT a doctor!! Nothing can replace your doctor's knowledge. At any rate, the thing I'm wondering is if you've developed dysphasia in your mouth or tongue which is a technical term for the muscles in your tongue or in your mounth not working. My "baby" girl now 11 (geez where does the time go??) kept choking when she was a baby and would end up in the hospital with pneumonia because fluid went down the wrong pipe! It's called aspirating when that happens. The fluid that goes into your lungs doesn't just choke you, in my daughter's case, she would get pneumonia. I'd have it checked out. What I had to do for my child was to use rubbber tools and train her tongue. Also, this is probably silly, but check your meds out and see if any of them cause your muscles to act up. A med called Reglan is being sued and one of the reasons is that it causes uncontroled mouth and tongue movement.
about your meds, you probably absorbed the better part of them so, I personally would NOT take another dose! Better safe than sorry and you will be taking meds later anyway. Just sit back, relax and enjoy that cup of joe which I just decided I think I'll go make it sounds so good! I usually wait till the hubby wakes and then he makes it.....way too strong! Which is why he's the coffee maker!

I choke and end up throwing up quite a lot myself. I think I have been himliched more then anyone else on the planet!! No one seems to know why I chock on things so easily but I guess its just my lot in life. As for the meds, you are mostly good I do believe but if you get any really bad pain spikes you normally do not get a call to your doc may be in order.

Flower123, I know this may sound gross, but do you take your med in pill form or liquid? And do you throw up right away after taking it. I would think if it was in pill form and you threw up right a way you might see it. Silly question I know, but it is just a thought. Just trying to help, and mean no harm by the question. I'm a little nervous trying to help at this point, as I seem to do more harm than good these days. I do, like so many others here, hope you can find a solution to this problem soon, as I would think that the acid from your stomach might be doing some harm.

Please keep us updated on this, as I for one have never thought about this problem and what may cause it. I'm sure this is of interest to so many others here as well. Thank you for bringing up the question here.

I've noticed that for some reason, after vomiting up pain meds, I don't go into withdrawal as quickly as you might expect. I think this has something to do with those calming chemicals that the body releases after a vomiting episode. I've also noticed that my pain seems to be milder at that point, even without the meds on board. I keep meaning to research this phenomenon, but still haven't gotten around to it.
