Need lots of support! Approved on the Psych Eval for SCS but.........

God I was so hoping this would not happen, but it would seem that my Work Comp has stalled me on the trial!  Once again I am fighting for something that seems logical but to WC it ain't gonna happen!

Okay so here is what I have been told...I have been approved by the Psychologist to go ahead with the trial.  However, Wyoming WC seems to WANT more once again!  God I am so sick of dealing with this crap and once again I feel that I am not going to get the approval to go ahead with something that just might get me off 1/2 of the medication that is killing my liver!  So....we are stalled out once again, except this time its WC that is doing the stalling.  I might be looking for an attorney real soon if this is something that they will not budge on and I will fight to be able to do the trial.

My Pain Doc is a very forward man and will of course help me in any way they can.  But I am afraid that in dealing with WC I am going to have to find an attorney to get what I believe will help in this problem.  So...I'm asking for all the support that you all can give me as I continue on this road.

P.S.  Thank you so much for listening to my rants over the past few years and I do so hope that soon I can get this taken care of.

Hi Scarred,

What a mess! and I'm so sorry you're having to put up with this government crap. You might just want to go ahead and get an attorney lined up. I think it would take a huge amount of stress off of you and thus reduce the pain a bit. Any reduction in pain sure is welcome, even if it's from a 9 to an 8....silly as that sounds.

Please keep us posted and you don't have to thank anyone for listening to your rants. We all come here in pain and need to talk, it's human nature. So share, rant, vent, express, yell, rage, fume, seethe, shout, scream, shriek, roar, bellow, bawl, screech, howl, shout, cry, yelp and holler! <whew> ok, I had some help on that list...lol But any is allowed in here as long as we don't use those 'bleep' words. ;-)

Scarred, I do hope you will at least talk with an atty the phone about this mess. Now, I do remember you telling me the insurance company would have to deny you having the SCS trial, before an atty would be willing to take the claim on your behalf. What is it they want this time to stall more? I know they are smart enough not to deny the SCS trial because they know you could hire an atty at that point. I have lost count of years you have been waiting on this. I would at least discuss with an atty what they are telling you they need now. Lots of soft hugs coming your way.

Dear Chutz;

Thanks for your support! It does not sound silly to me if the stim gets me from a 7 to a 6 I will think of it as a success and would do it anyway. The reason behind that, for those that don't understand, is the fact that over the past 10+ years that I have been dealing with this I have been at a constant 9-10. A year ago I began to see a psychologist for the pain control and it has helped. I figure that even a small decrease in pain is better then none at all.

I have talked with the nurse and she explained to me that the main doctor that will be seeing me for the trial does not know about WC's reaction to what the Psychologist said and I want to wait to see what he says before going on from here. Once he gets on their case I am almost sure that things will work out.

Hoping that soon I will get some relief.

     It is always so nice to hear from you *hugg* I am so sorry that WC is stalling again. I would think the had run out of excuses by now, but I guess not. I know nothing of WC so am unable to give advise on any of that. But I can listen. So anytime you need to talk about it go ahead, I want to help in whatever way I can, even if it is just to lend you an ear.

 

     Please, take care of yourself. I hope you can find a few moments of rest. You are in our hearts here.

The WC sounds like a darn nightmare! I'm like Dani, I don't know anything about WC... but I can definitely hear your frustration and understand that! I would feel exactly the same way. I agree with you, too - that a small decrease in pain is at least that - a decrease... so keep pushing on....

((((((((((Scarred)))))))))))))). I can relate to having to jump though hoops with insurance to get approved for a stimulator trial, although your battle makes mine seem like nothing. I only had to fight for 6 mo & you've been fighting for well over a year.

Do what you need to do to make sure that you are heard. If that means getting an attorney, get an attorney. You have had to wait too long & jump through too many hoops. This is ridiculous!

Things will work out for you eventually. Keep the faith!

Thank you everyone for the kind thoughts, I do so appreciate them and each of you. From what I am gathering, which is very little, I have been approved by the pyschologist that did the last two evaluations, to go ahead with the trial. WC is stalling wanting more info and more things from the psychologist.

I can tell you that I refuse to quit or give up and if I have to retain an attorney I will. Unfortunately right now an attorney will not touch my case (or so I have been told by every last attorney that I have talked to) until WC actually sends me a denial for services letter. This I have not gotten as of yet, so I am going to let my Pain doc handle this for now. He has already told WC that if they do not let him treat me the way he sees fit that they will drop me and I can find someone else that they are more happier with. I sure hope that they don't!

So sorry that you are going thru all of this. If just doesn't seem fair eh.

I know that you've said an attorney won't take the case until you get what I assume is an official denial from WC for the stim procedure, which is probably why WC is keeping you in this limbo. But at this point I would think if you could afford to even pay for a consultation from an attorney to see if there's any way around this it would be worth it. I mean even though you're not getting an official denial, it's becoming an unofficial one because of all the time that's gone by. I wonder if there's a time limit somewhere that the insurance company has to give you an answer. Course they'd never tell you that, but sometimes this might be in the fine print and an attorney might know some way to get around it. But you might have to pay.

Seems like you're doing all you can. I'd hate to see you lose your doctor!

Hello, here is an ideal that you could try. Try looking on the internet for the W/C laws in your state. They diffirent from state to state, and fight them with the laws in your state.

Just an ideal for you. Hope they get on the ball soon
