If I understand your post correctly, you said (" He gave me my scripts and told me that he was going to have me see another doctor in the facility next month. I asked what kind of a doctor, and he said Primary Care, same as him. My guess is that he's going to have that doctor play bad cop. ") Then your Doctor who has been prescribing you your pain meds is your PCP? If that is the case, "most" PCP's will not prescribe pain meds for long periods of time, that is why most chronic pain patients go to a pain clinic and are managed by a Doctor who specializes in the treat ment of chronic pain. Allot of theses Doctors require that you submit to frequent urine test, this is not only to verify that you are not abusing the medications, but also that you are actually using them, and thus need to have them! Pain Management Doctors often do more than just give their patients pain medications, they often will administer epidural steriod injections, and do all kinds of other procedures to eliminate pain. They will often order special test in order to find out what is causing your pain and then do referals to other speciality Doctors, to see if they can do something to fix or correct or treat what is causing your pain. Since your Doctor does not want to treat you for chronic pain I think I would ask him to make you a referral to a Pain Clinic and or a Chronic Pain Specialist. Allot of these Clinics and Pain Doctors will only accept new paitents through referrals from other physicians. I do wish you well with this!
Good Luck to YOU!!
