Hi to all you ladies,
Hope you're all having a good day.

Im just after a bit of info/advice really.
I had an endometrium ablation about a year ago, due to heavy and erratic bleeding. I have now started to regret having it done, due to wanting a baby now, which i didnt think i'll ever want anymore after having my 3, which unfortunatly due to severe depression, have been placed in adoption. cry

My husband also had the snip, so even if i wanted a baby, which i so terribly do, its out of the question. But my problem is, over the past 4mnths i have been getting terrible pms pains, but no bleeding, just the occasional bloody discharge. I was wondering if taking an oral contraceptive pill would help with the pains? If so, what are the chances of my periods starting back up?

I also have fibrocystic breast disease, so will the pill help with those pains aswell? I did used to take cilest before i had the procedure.

Look forward to some answers.

      Hello Amy!

    My wife had this done about a yr ago, and she too was bleeding something terrible. And I mean bad! shakehead

       Now, while it did stop the excessive bleeding, it did not stop the monthly PMS cycle with the cramping, and at times, it seemed worse. She did some reserch on this, and if I remember right, she told me that the lining is scarred over from the ablation, but that the uterus is trying to bleed through the lining and can not get through. I could be way off base here, as this in certianlly not my forte for obvious reasons. wink

   All I know is that your post here sounds just like my wife, in that she is still experiencing PMS cramping pain. She told me last night, she is thinking about getting it all taken out and be done with it.

   I certianlly encourge you to visit with your Dr about this. I'm going to let the ladies help you on this one, but just wanted to share what my wife has gone through. Again, I could be way off base here, so do keep checking here for a solid answer.

I was put on the mini pill with adenomyosis and heavy periods, cramping etc. It did help me, reduced but didn't get rid of the pain. I ended up having surgery but I remember the mini pill did help for the months before I had the surgery. (I had precancerous ovaries as well) Anyway its definately worth a try before taking a drastic route.
As for the yearning for a baby, I went on homeopathics to treat that and it worked really well for me.
Talking about it probably would help too. It seems we grieve for what we've lost. I feel good and settled now but I remember that yearning. Hormones are a powerful drug in our systems, if your hormones are out of sync, its probably not helping you emotionally.

My sister has stage 4 endo and they gave her some sort of hormone drug. I can ask her when she gets off work what is was/is.

My sisterinlaw was forced by her insurance company to take the hormone drug I think Breezy is referring to. She was at the point in her life a hysterectomy was her only option. But, before her insurance would pay for the hysterectomy she had to take this drug and it was a failure which her dr told her it would not help her. The drug put in her an early menopause among a bunch of other unwanted things. The end result was she got to have the hysterectomy and has done wonderful since. Her own dr came out after surgery and told my brother and I he had no idea how bad the endo was, it was wrapped around her bowels and anything else it could attach to. His words were she was a mess inside and he had to do a lot cutting and scraping to get rid of it. He actually apologized to her when he went to see her in her room. She had suffered with a lot of pain because of the mess.

I think I will know the name of the drug if Breezy posts it here.

I had this surgery 3 years ago. I still have my periods, and have from the beginning but they are very light in comparison to what I dealt with prior to the surgery. I have no problem with dealing with my 3 days of very light periods after a lifetime of very heavy periods that had decided to go from 8 days to 14. If you have not started your periods since the surgery, chances are you fall into the 50% that won't have them again. There could be another reason for the pains and discharge you are having. I would check in with your doctor about the pains, either your gynecologist or your PCP. Maybe the pains you are having are related to something else, like ovarian cysts, and not your periods at all? It is worth talking to your doctor about since the pains are relatively new. If they can find a reason for the pain, they will know whether birth control pills will help. I hope you find an answer.
