Okay so fast forward after my surgery, back to work since last wednesday, I'm wondering why I feel like crap right now, well I took my patch off this morning and took a shower, ususally I take if off after I shower then apply the new one, but since its out of routine for me I forgot to put the new patch on. My fingers, my back, my feet it all hurts!!!

Oh my gosh hopegirl. That's too bad. Well I imagine you are home now and have put your patch on. I hope it doesn't take long to

decrease your pain. I bet you won't do that again eh!! LOL

I am so sorry for your oops! I don't have the patch but have been without pills when I should be taking them! It stinks! Hope you are better now!

The tricky part about the patches is that it takes a while for the "reservoir" of fentanyl under your skin to refill if you leave them off for a long time, or when you switch to a new patch/location. So if you wait until after your old reservoir has emptied before you put a new one on, then it can take several hours before the relief will start.

If you have any oral/breakthrough medication(s) you're allowed to take, that would be a good time....so that you don't have to wait for the fentanyl to slowly migrate through your skin before it starts reaching your bloodstream in the usual amounts. Good luck....sorry you had to suffer your way through a work day like that!

Hi All,

 

Its Monday and I am just starting to feel better with the med in my system. I had no idea that going 10-11 hours without the continous medication would reak so much havoc on my body. Not to mention we live in SE PA and it us starting to really get cold, well our heater broke and the guy could not get out to our house until today, so all weekend I was rather cold too. Sigh, but I'm here at work, and happy to be able to work another day. I'm pretty tired though, but it is just something ya deal with.
