Is that a BBQ? Over here a grill is a heating element that usually sits below your main oven (a broiler, maybe?) tongue

Going with BBQ - yes, we use ours all the time. Out the back of our place we have a big enclosed pergola and a similar sized deck that's been built around a big white cedar tree. From spring right through until mid-autumn if we get a nice warm evening we'll fire up the barbie - and the pergola has a heater so if it's a bit chilly for sitting out on the deck to have tea, we can sit in the pergola and whack the heater on.

So easy to do. I think most everyone has done it at one time or another.

In the states a grill is generally an outdoor cooking device that uses charcoal or some type of gas (usually natural or propane) to cook upon.

Also here in the states grilling is cooking foods quickly over high heat and barbecuing (bbq) is cooking food over very low heat or using indirect heat for a very long time.

Generally speaking both grilling and bbq refer to cooking meat but other foods like vegetables are used at times too.

Thats a riot!!! I love the language thing from country to country or even state to state. I get alot of ribbing and misunderstandings here in FL as it seems us folks from KY dont say things the same way as folks here do.

I have always wondered what the differences were in BBQ,grilling,and broiling but never gave it much thought as we just say "were cooking out" Lol
