neuro stim is scaring me

My neuro stim, which is in my right side of my back, not very deep at all, and has never worked.  That is not the problem, I have delt with that, it never worked since it was installed May 2010.

My doctor said leave it in, it wont hurt anything.  Well I sat in one of those gray folding chairs, you know the ones they use when your kids have an event at school.  I went to get up from the chair and it caught on the stim, it pulled me back down into the chair.

This happened to me twice, now I am extra careful when I get up and down or out of a chair.  It really hurts now, I dont want it to rip out one of these times.  Anyone else had this problem.  I dont want to beat a dead horse about the neuro stims themselves, they work great for some, just like anything else, and dont work for others.

That is with anything that people who really are trying to help us cp patients. 

So if anyone else has had this particular problem, I think I already know it has to come out before it accidentaly gets torn out.  Anyone?

Thanks tmjpain, yes it is, but I called the doctor, she advised me that if I felt it was hurting bad enough to come on in.  If not I can wait until my regular appt. on June 29.  I think thats what I probably do.  The one thing I have to think about is the cost of another visit.

My daughter who I live with gets home today from Mexico, I will talk it over with her and decide what the best way to go on is. 

I think I paniced, it was just so weird, and it does hurt.  I think I can live with it until my appt.  So thank you very much for your concern.  I think it scared me more than anything else.  Its just strange.

I would have to go back to the dr and tell him it is interfering with my activities and insist that it be removed. Something else to consider by leaving it in, is infection, if the unit has metal parts and such that is another reason to have it taken out. I have chronic cellulitis problems with my legs Kathy and one of the my PM drs big concerns is with this infection she constantly worries I will get infection around my pump and if that happens the pump has to be taken out and I may not be able to have another pump put back in. Metal in our bodies and infections are not good.

Kathy, I am not saying you may have an infection going on-I was wanting you to know that it can be a real problem if you get any kind of an infection and have metal implanted. I wanted to make sure I was clear on that. But, still why would he want to leave something like that in you is beyond me, I would have to insist on it being removed.

Let us know what the dr says. if he says he will not remove it, then I would check with a general surgeon to see if its something they would handle or even perhaps a vascular surgeon. Good luck.

I forgot to tell you what happened with the rep when I went to my check-up. I have two, Todd & Danielle. Todd thinks he knows everything, Danielle does. Guess who checked my unit? I told Todd I wanted it adjusted. I watched as he fooled with his machine that fools with mine. Then he showed/told me how to turn my unit off and on with my magnet. It wasn't until I did that load of laundry after the dr.s app. that I realized, not only did "Mr. Wonderful" mess up my levels of stimulation but he also left my unit off! Now I have to call Danielle on Monday to ask her to fix what Todd has done for the second time. When I had my trial unit put in, Todd said it would be ok to set the as soon as I came out of surgery. I was still numb! Once again Danielle had to fix his mistake. She's a really nice woman, just as friendly as could be. I suppose you would have to be in her line of work, especially with Todd as a co-worker!
