Hey Lucky..
Glad to hear that you got some sleep last night!!..
The reason it will take some adjustment for pain...is keep in mind as I explained on my other pose...
A 10mg Oxycontin will release only 5mg of the Oxycodone (same medicine as in Percocet) in the first 45 minutes...and then taper off the next hours....then at hour 6...the next 5mg of Oxycodone is released...
So it's pretty much the same amount of total medicine that you were taking in the Percocet through the day...
So most people will have to move to taking both a larger dose...like 20mg...as well as a lot of Dr.s prescribe this to be taken every 8 hours...
As well as taking a breakthrough medicine (like the Percocet) when needed..
I take 30mg of MSContin (morphine sulfate er) at 5am...then another 15 or 30mg at 1pm....then the last 30mg at 5pm..
I have prescript
ions for both the 15 and 30mg..to choose which amount if any to add inbetween the two main doses..so it gives me more flexibility as I only want to take as little as possible...
I also use a 5mg OxyIR (oxycodone immediate release...same as what's in Percocet but without the acetaminophen)...whenever needed throughout the day...up to 8 maximum in a 24hour period..
So...my whole point is that you are actually on a fairly low dosage right now and it will take getting used to your AM dosage...and upping it to the 20mg after a few weeks if the Dr. has ok'd this...and then using the Percocet for breakthrough when needed...
So hang in there....it takes time to get to the correct dosages and times as well as types of medicine to get good pain control...And even with my dosages...I still live with a 5-7 each day...and use all the other modalities each day to assist in my pain control...I never want to only rely on medicine..
Good luck!!
