Wound Vac is HISTORY and I am on my way to health!

I went to the wound care clinic and when the NP saw how raw and irritated my wounds were, she informed me that she felt that we needed to discontinue use of the vac!!!!!  She said that my wounds weren't deep enough to warrant it anyway.  WOOT!

I went 7 hours without pain meds when that contraption came off yesterday.  SEVEN!  That one pill I took was my normal night time pill.  Even after they messed with my wounds today, I haven't needed any medication what-so-ever for pain!  Thank you for all of the prayers, thoughts, encouragement.

Now on to "normal" pain.     I'll gladly take it and never medicate for it again!

Oh, Mindy, when I explained that I had been virtually pain meds free since removing the vac, she knew that something wasn't right. When she saw my skin, there was a look of shock on her face. My skin is raw where that thing was attached.

I wish my vision would come back to me. After being without my glasses for almost a week and on pain meds (morphine, oxicodone, oxicontin, percocet) for almost a week and a half, my vision is so blurry that I don't think it will ever straighten out. I am thankful to be just on Percocet again for my hands...that is IT!

I am all over the infection. The Hospitalist in charge of my care was FABULOUS and came in to talk to my husband and I on what we can do to keep the recurrences down and possibly even irradicate this thing! My spirits ARE higher. Getting back to good health is just as much mental as it is physical. I feel much better...just in time for cold weather and peak "oh my gosh cut my hands off" weather.

I have to laugh at that...or the thought will have me crying!
