Well, my hubby woke on Monday with a toothache, today he had a root canal done,
poor hun...Well, that meant me calling my PM Doc and canceling the rest of my prolotherapies
(price of the root canal was way more than the the prolotherapy, so can't afford it )
I'm not too very disappointed, I'm kinda glad...The First Session caused more pain than
it should've...I see my PCP next week and think I'll ask him to take over writing my pm
scripts till I can find another PM Doctor...I've been wanting to get away from this pm doctor,
guess I got my chance...Fingers crossed the next Doctor, will do me better...I tried and did
my best with this doctor...sure hate trying to find another doctor...maybe after the new year...

Hi Char~

I hope this unexpected change works out for you. Sometimes the 'silver lining' in the cloud actually does turn out to be something good. My PCP does all of my PM care and is so easy to work with. Plus he knows everything else about me and other problems so he's working with the total body and not just my fibro pain. I much prefer it this way and feel very lucky to have him.

Give your hubby an 'atta boy' from me. I had a root canal just before we left on vacation and yesterday had a crown build-up on the same tooth. My insurance might not pay on it since that tooth had been worked on once before in the past two years. That's going to make a huge dent! grrrr...what a stupid way to run an insurance company. They don't work for the patient but instead work to earn a profit for their stock holders. Something not morally right about that.

Glad to see you back, I just really, really needed to vent and I just hate having to possible get another PM Doctor down the road...
This one just wasn't a good fit for me seems, he was always pushing me into things I just can't do...
At least he did listen when I told him about my falls but he kept interupting me that I forgot things...
I'm frustrated at this point I've been thru 4 pm doctors in 10 years...and this last one was considered very good...
just not to me....and today my meds just ain't helping much, so it's a bad day...

I'm sorry but you know, having 4 doctors in 10 years is not that bad......there are some people who have had far more than twice as many doctors in half of the time......
I'm really sorry though that he turned out to not be a good fit for you. Sometimes, when a doctor pushes you to do something that you don't want to do, and doesn't listen to your reasons for not wanting to do it, then it is time to move on to someone who will listen.
I have refused a couple of things that my old neurosurgeon wanted me to do, he tried to convince me to get a spinal cord stimulator implanted less than 2 months after my revision..I explained to him my reasons why I wouldn't want to get one and he pushed me and pushed me until I finally agreed to go talk to the PM doctor who implanted them. I came away from that visit more determined than ever that I was not going to get one.......he didn't like it, not one bit...
My first PM doctor, also wanted me to go get one as well but I was opposed then as well. It may very well be something that I may have to consider at some point, but I am only now 47- what other options does that leave me later, when things get even worse for me? Besides an intrathecal pump?
Sigh. I don't think that a patient should ever be forced into doing anything they don't want to do.....they can't force a patient to have surgery, so why force them into prolotherapy or scs or any other procedure?
Anyway, I wanted to wish you the best in finding a new doctor. They are out there and there is one waiting for you.

You don't know me but I've been in your shoes. I've had at least 4 PM doctors in the last 1O years. My favorite PM doctor was shut down by the law. I'm convinced he wasn't doing anything illegal. But that's another story. He's the only PM doctor that I ever felt comfortable with and respected by.

I saw another and it turned out that the FBI was investigating him, and he was verbally abuse to boot. He would yell at his patients and threaten to take away their meds. Another dumped me after a year saying it was in my best interest not to be on pain medications, but only after they did every procedure my insurance company would pay for including and SCS trial.

I'm really glad you have a MD who will prescribe you medications until you find another. Our health care system is a mess it's the laws that are making it so that PM doctors are just as scared as we are (even though they won't show it) and since they have all the authority, they have as much to lose as we do in this the war against drugs and doctors. If only more of them could put themselves in our shoes too.

Since it wasn't working out for you it's sounds like it's for the best. And your next PM doctor might just be the one you dreamed of all along.

yes my 1st PM doc was shut down and he was really helping me and not with just drugs. The DEA scrutinizes all doc and pharmacy activities. PCPs in Mississippi cannot write more than 6 scripts per patient in a year for 30 pills-whoopee.

I guess it's just frustration as you hope to get that one good doctor....if only it took one try...

I have the same frustration. I'm really glad that my pcp writes the scripts for my pain meds. I wish you well my friend. Take care. I hope your having a low pain afternoon and evening.
