Hi everyone, I am new to the forum. This condition has plagued me for several years without relief. Tried just about
everything and would love to know if anyone else has an answer to the problems. Recently I started adding turmeric to my diet and that has had some effect as it is a natural anti-inflamatory. In the last couple of months I have developed tendonitis in my right thumb which is also now a major problem. Still can't comfortably touch my middle finger with it.

HI
In my case I had a couple of cortisone shots which did little to nothing so I opted for surgery. The surgery went great. I was told I would have to wear orthotics the rest of my life which seemed a fair trade off. I have had no more problems and I found it was all worth it. Don't know if that helps you any. Good luck

Hi Stingray,
Thank you for sharing your story. What did the surgery consist of and how painful was it? Also how long before you could walk on it afterwards? I did not know you could have an op for this condition.

Hi Skiesgreen
I'm not sure of the exact procedure but from what I remember the surgeon cut or releases the tendon from the heel. I was told I would have to wear orthotics the rest of my life but by that point I couldn't not longer stand any weight on my heel which made it almost impossible to walk to it seem like a pretty fair trade. The surgery went well. Just day surgery. When I got home I wasn't in to much pain at all but being stubborn and not wanting to take pain meds I let it go until it really hurt when the freezing had worn off. Really bad idea because trying to play catch up after the pain gets bad isn't what you want to do. Had I taken the meds before the pain got bad I would have been fine. Anyway it did hurt for about a day and half and took about 2 -3 weeks before I could walk on it without any problems from what I remember. All in all in my case I'd say it was well worth it. Good luck, hope you figure out what's best for you.

Try freezing a bottle of water.... when frozen... roll under your foot while watching tv!
Hope you get better.... I've had it before and it does hurt!
