I received a call from my ortho doc nurse. She said that the doc reviewed my chart over the weekend and due to ALL my allergies, what allergies? That he cant operate on me at his favorite hospital. He wants to send me to Philadelphia. I cryed knowing that I wouldnt be seeing my husband monday thru friday because he comes home at 6:00 and it takes 2 hours to get to Phil. Visiting hours gone at 8:00.

This ortho doc is handing my case off to another doc because he doesnt want to be held responsible if something bad happens.

I am waiting for the nurse to call me back. Maybe he is cancelling my appt with him on wednesday to. Nurse said we can send you to Baltimore...1 1/2 hours awayor Lancaster...1 hour away. Nope not happening.

I am so upset...I had a feeling of forboding something really bad was going to happen. Well the doc I had confidence in is pawning my case off to another doc that I dont know...no trust in him or confidence.

i need to know the results of my allergy testing I went thru and what % of rejection I would have with a knee implant.

I cant physically and mentally continue with the knee implant knowing he wont be doing it.

Having issues with sleeping.

Back pain is at a 7. I am awake and waiting for my med to work.

Today the nurse will call me from ortho office. She told me last night that my doctor and his scrub team will change hospitals so I get the best care. Now Im not being pawned off to another doctor.

I was told to cancel my appt to give blood

Betsey, I usually post in the osteo and diabetes forums, but saw your post and wanted to put in my 2 cents worth.

I had my right knee replaced two years ago. I'd been in severe pain for five years before that. In three years I had an open repair of a badly healed fracture of both the bones in my lower leg, two shoulder surgeries and the knee replacement. The knee was by far the least painful and most successful for me. I hope your results are as good as mine. Good luck to you.

The ortho nurse said that I will be changing doctors when i have surgery. So I need to establish a relationship with the new doctor and then make appt for surgery in the summer. She keeps telling me that my knee implant will be very difficult.

I will talk to my current ortho doc on wednesday .

               So!...the surgery is off at this time? It sounds like they want the best specialist for you since it will be a difficult one to do.

       Sorry to hear...but it may be a blessing in the long run.

Yes SE the surgery is off on 12-30.

Im wondering if the hospital billing dept might be having issues with workmans comp.

Wed I will talk to my ortho doc and tell him that I trust him and then start asking questions

I will post after I talk to my doc on wednesday.

I got back from my consult with my ortho doc. He iis transferring me to another ortho doc within the practice who operates in a hospital that is close to us. But the majorr reason is I am on partial disability and he thought I had the mind set that I will never get better. He didnt know that i had 3 knee ot of a t surgeries and months of PT to try to get my leig to bend just 82 degrees . I am a very stubborn and determined patient and the doc did not accurately evaluate my personality.

He assumed because Im on disability I dont want to go back to work. He is wrong about that. But what employer would hire a 58 yr old female who got hurt on her previous job? I would have to see how I am after i have complete healing .

I have an appointment to talk to the other ortho doc next thursday. I will see how long he has been practicing ,and if I like him. I will let you know how that goes next week.

I called my lawyer and talked to her paralegal and she will email the lawyer to call me.

No surgery on 12-30.....I would want surgery in mid summer.....My knee doesnt hurt all the time.

Merry Christmas

I hope everyone has a low pain day tomorrow.

Holidays are so hard for those of us with chronic pain. So many visits and so much cooking and washing dishes. It just never ends. We take our medicines so we can function somewhat throughout the day and when nighttime comes.........

More medicine to relieve pain....Keep smiling .....be a great hostess......collapse We do what we can because we have learned to adjust how we live with pain.

Hi Betsey thought I would offer you best wishes on your surgery but sounds like its on hold now? You are so strong and with everything going on so organized. I am supposed to have back surgery in the next few months and reading your previous posts help give me strength. Take care I hope it all works out for you.
