Hi guys, I knew to this forum but been on the GERD forum for sometime.

Quick history: I had symptoms of a burning chest, throat, and mouth for about a year. Seen lots of doctors, GIs, ENTs, as was diagnosed with GERD. I even had Nissen Fundoplication.

I am 1 month post op and I still have a burning sensation in my throat and mouth. My tongue is red on the sides and my lips also red. I have signs of dental erosion as well.

Do any of you know what this could be?

What kind of doctor shall I see?

If you did have this, how did you get better?

Hi Max, welcome to the chronic pain forum. Do you have a return appt set with your surgeon? If not, I think I would call and get and let the dr know what is going on. Since this is an ongoing problem I think the surgeon should be able to answer your questions. I too have GERD and I produce a lot of acid and I get this burning when the acid is really bad. I am not a dr and sure can't tell you whats going on here except it does all sound like its tied into the GERD situation.

Please let us know what your dr seems to think about this situation. Take care.

thanks for the quick response.

I have a follow up appointment with my surgeon this coming thursday. This is my second post op appointment. He sometimes it can take up to 6 months to see results. That's a long time :( I have had this problem for almost a year now. I'm hoping to get some help and some relief soon. I thought Nissen would have done he trick but it hasn't. I use to have bad stomach burning and tickling pains but that subsided after the surgery. It's just the throat and mouth now I'm dealing with.

Welcome to our forum

Did you see a dentist? He can prescribe a soothing mouth rinse that will quiet the burning and correct your dental erosion areas with tooth colored composite.

Let us know how you make out.

I wanted to welcome you to our cp forum. I hope you stay with us and let us know how things go with your upcoming appt. Does your doctor have you on any meds for the gerd?
what about a throat specialist, ie. ENT, eye, nose, throat.
Sorry i don't have any answers. Did you get any suggestions on the gerd forum?

do you have, or have had a recent appt. with your dentist. part of what you describe could be related to severe gum disease, and could spread to some of the other areas.

good luck in getting some answers and relief.
