Update Betsey Ross!

…received another call this afternoon from Betsey, and again!….she sounded wonderful!….full of giggles and positive remarks about her surgeon and the surgery itself.

She said the knee will never be able to to straighten out completely…but she is fine with that. I think she said that she will be moved tomorrow to a "Rehab Center"…and will have to endure 5 to 7 days of PT there. After that, it will be home for a while…and then she is already planning a 30day stay or more back down to Florida in her second home. (I believe I could talk myself into a longer stay..LOL)

All in all,….I think she is doing rather well for as much pain she says she is in…while on med's…a 6…but I never heard her complain about it. I asked how the nurses were treating her…and she said wonderful!

We like to hear reports like this here on the forum!…and many patients don't fair so well. I know she was pretty apprehensive leading up to the surgery….and she had everything ready…and checked her list thrice!

I'm just glad she got it done, and that she is in a good mood…laughing and all!

Take care my friend!….and don't worry,….. if my wife and I happen to be in Florida while your there….we will certainly come and visit you! Maybe Pete…or Lindaloo are close to where you live, and you all can get together for a visit.

….yes Rose!…both reports are a welcome sight here!….we are so very pleased for the both of you! Let's just hope you both take it easy within reason and not mess the repair work up.

Rose I was in your very shoes two years ago, and understand the hope you have…and wanting to push the walking distance each day. Listen to your body and don't overdo it. It sounds like you both had competent surgeons….and the nursing staff was good as well. What a blessing for you both!

I am home

 

Hubby gave me a dozen red roses and a dozen yellow roses.  They smelled so good.  I have them sitting in the kitchen table.  We ate supper in our home and I loaded the dishwasher and did a load of wash.  washed myself and put on a comfortable nightie. 

 

I didnt have any problems getting into the house.  No pain and I have outpatient therapy starting on monday.  My knee bending machine wull be delivered saturday..

 

 

Thank you everyone for praying for me.  I didnt feel alone.  My leg didnt get numb on the underside part .  Anest couldnt hit the right spot to get it entirely numb so it was pain beyound a 12 when I woke up.  They got it under control.

 

I will keep everyone updated on my progress.

Hi Betsy. I'm so happy that your surgery went well, although I'm sorry that they couldn't get the underside of your knee numb so that it was hurting so bad. I am glad that they got the pain under control.

I know you're glad that you're home. Take care of yourself, and try not to overdo. We all know what happens when we do that.

Hi Betsy, I had to re-read your post WOW you sound awesome. I still have not seen my surgeon for follow up so get staples out on Tuesday and they said he will see me then. I hope you continue on improving everyday and of course as you improve try to not over do things.

I just started dishes yesterday and I did a quick sweep and that was it, I also went for a 15 minute walk later in the day. I have however used my vocal ability a few times on my poor hubby who is not keeping things up the way I like them.

Keep on improving Betsy I wish you speedy recovery.

I did stop at the pharmacy and found out that on sunday i was given 20% off my scripts. It took me until 11:00 am to leave therapy today. Then I drove to a freestanding lab and they dont do outside lab work. So I drove 3 more miles away and they drew my blood after stabbing me twice.

I am exhausted. I will have brats with onions,green peppers pickeled eggs and french fries.

I need therapy for my knee so my therapist is trying to do stuff on me that I dont do at home.

My knee has a deep gnawing pain this morning. I took my meds, if it doesnt get any better I will call ortho doc.

Havent heard anything from family doc yet about my PT time . I havent taken coumadin since friday. The blood draw was on monday. You would think by tuesday I should have heard something on how much coumadin to take. Oh Well!

I will keep posting on this issue.

Here it is thursday night. Knee is killing me. Friday I see ortho doc and get my staples removed thank goodness. Then I have physical therapy 2 hours later. Then i need to go to library to get tax forms.

Husband is getting hyper over doing the taxes himself. i gave him the option of doing it himself or have someone do them for us and pay them for it. No, he didnt want to pay for that.

Tomorrow is our wedding anniversary, 37 years, long years. We will go to a Japanese restaurant and watch the chef cook our meal in front of us.

I hope my pain will be under control on friday so we have a nice celebration of our wedding anniversary.

I took my meds, went out for breakfast with hubby, packed his lunch, made the bed and now I relax until 9:00 am when I drive to ortho doc.

Getting the staples removed was awful. They were covered by tissue and horrible pain with every removal. There was 14 of them. I went home for 30 minutes to take more meds and collect my self. Then i drove myself to therapy.

My knee only bent to 75 degrees and straightening was up to 95 on the machine. I did toe tapping, lunches for my knee, stretching exercises.
