Hi there Shooter...It looks like you are new over from the Gerd board....so welcome to chronic pain...
One of the things I always advise about
taking a new medication is to go in with a very positive attitude. Asking for how it's worked for others is kind of tricky....because I'm sure there are those that have had a bad experience and will share. But that doesn't happen to everyone. There are many people....most of them who don't go online to pain forums as they are feeling great...
So that kind of cancels each other out...
What I do pay attention to is possible side effects. It's still the same in that what happens to others may not happen to you, but it's good to just know what it "could" be. As well as read all the literature that came with your prescript
ion from the Pharmacy.
And barring any type of actual allergic reaction that is emergent.....many of the nuisance side effects of a medication go away in a few weeks to a month.
Also know that Drs. start patients on lower dosages so they have room to tirate up as needed. But they also want a patient to give at least a month to see how it does in your system over time.
At least that is what my Dr. has always done.
So...I know it doesn't sound helpful..LOL...But really, we are so unique on this board with our pain issues, the other meds we take, our own metabolisms...etc. That every single medicine will react differently for all of us.
The main things is I hope it helps lower your pain.
Does your Dr. have you doing other, non narcotic things to help your pain each day/week/month? A comprehensive pain program is about
using all modalities possible so that no one relys on just one thing/pill. Think of them as building blocks...
So, if you feel like sharing what are your pain issues now and what treatment are you seeking...
