I have posted my story on here before. Basically, I'm 35 years old, suffer from three levels of cervical disc disease and SI joint dysfunction. Anyways, I've been medicted incorrectly with short-acting medication for the past eight to ten years. My ortho doc passed me on to a pain mgt. doc a few months ago and I'm scared to death I'll mess this up as I see it's the "end of the road" for me. I was on five Norco 10/325 per day up untl last week. The pain mgt. doc put me on Opana 10 mg twice a day. I've been nauseous and haven't even noticed a difference in my pain control. He prescribed Norco for breakthrough pain but the pharmacy won't fill for another four days because I'm too early as a result of the last doctor not prescribing adequate medication for me.
Anyways, I called the pain doc today and he said he wants to switch me over to the Fentanyl patch and I really don't know if I want to go to something that strong. I always really enjoy the hot tub for my muscle spasms and read you can't use the patch in a hot tub and/or long, hot shower. I'm pretty nervous about the whole thing but feel like if I don't go along with his program, he'll kick me out and I'll be really screwed. Ugh....
Any advice? Anyone on the Fentanyl patch and happy with it??? Help....
