Hello Donna! Welcome to the forum! My first question- Did your Dr prescribe a muscle relaxer for you? You HAVE to take one after RF is done. I actually had two RF's last year on my back- lower left side first and then lower right side. I had something very unusual happen- I had great relief from the left one, but a month later when I had the right side done the pain did not go away and the pain on my left side came back. I just finished the required facet blocks almost a month ago and will be trying the RF again in August- this time I will be getting the same locations as you as well as my SI joint.
The thing about RF that I have read a lot is that it is great for areas such as cervical and thoracic, but not always helpful with lumbar. I still have to try it again and if no help then I am not sure where I will go from there. I am not sure how you would know if you have suffered nerve damage- have you spoken with your Dr? You need to call and explain what is going on. As I mentioned before, it's very important to be on a muscle relaxer as your nerves are trying to fight the RF and can be very painful.
I did notice when I had the RF's last year that I had pain in other areas of my back where I normally did not have pain...I think it was because I was being so careful with my lumbar area that I stressed out the other areas in my back.
I'm not sure if I was any help, I hope so. Please keep us updated and feel free to ask us anything.
