Cancelled ortho appt

I cancelled my orthopedic appt on Tuesday.  When I saw him in June he warned me that if I showed no improvement by august then he wanted to do maniel mani[pulation on my knee.  I dont have enough money to pay for that.

My leg has a 5 % bend and it wont bend beyond 84 degrees.  I do exercises at home

My knee has pain up to an 8

I need to get off oxycontin it costs $500 every month for 60 pills.

Betsy what strength of oxycodone are you on? I have been on a few and 120 for 90 pills was the more expensive one. I just do not understand its one of the least expensive drugs here. Very sorry it's not for you.

Sorry you had to cancel your appointment, sounds like you really, really needed to keep it. Feel bad for you.

Why are your drug costs so high? Do you not have health insurance or medicare? Wish there were a way to help you out.

I am amazed at how cheap my Loratabs run, another reason why I don't mind staying on them, plus the fact that they work well with my type of pain. I pay $8.00 a month for 180 pills, hard to believe.

Betsy, I'm sorry to hear how things are going for you. I think you've been given great advice though. There surely has to be a way your doctors can work with you, especially with your pain so high?

A year of PT three times a week?? I have never heard of that before....that is just crazy....

It's one thing to go for a few weeks and but then they usually set you up to do everything at home.

The good news is that you have choices in other medications from MSContin to Methadone which are two medicines that have generics and work well. And as I said...there is the OxyIR for breakthrough that is really cheap...

I am on 5 different prescriptions....Two MSContins of 30mg and 15mg so I don't have to take the full 90mg each day. And then the OxyIR 5mg for bt. Then generic Flexeril as my muscle relaxer which is only $8 for 60 pills. And then generic Ambien to help sleep at night which is only $17.

I go to the Sam's club pharmacy and by law you do NOT have to have a membership to use the pharmacy at those type of stores. However...you can get a bit of a better discount and because mine has a gas station that is $.30 less PER GALLON...which is huge in my area....I go ahead and pay for the $40 yearly membership. So in between my prescriptions, gas, and a few items here and there (like the 400 count of generic Benadryl which my doggy uses each day for $2!! Can't beat that)

Anyway....as I said...most Drs. are very willing to work with you as well as your pharmacist to see what they carry and what generics they have at what cost....All to help us save money.

I just had no idea as you've been on the Oxy for a bit now that you afforded even a month or two of that! No way for me...I am scraping by each month....

I do lunges on the steps at home and wrap an elastic band around a table leg and around my bad ankle and swing my leg to the side and to the front so that has resistance. i squeeze a big ball between my thighs. Also I do mat exercises all at home so Im not idle and I keep moving.

7 more months and medicare here I come! Lol!

I can walk without a cane at this point but my heel doesnt want to touch the ground i do exercises for that.
