Hello all!

I've been a chronic pain patient for a number of years due to a spinal injury, I've found a balance in the last few years of using rhizotomies and Fentenyl patches for pain control.

I have to keep my Fentenyl patches to a very low dose, anything about 50 mcg/hr shuts down my intestinal track (learned this the hard way with vomiting for 4 months straight and the medical doctors couldn't figure out what was wrong with me.... 100lbs lighter I asked if it could be the patches, lowered my dose and well guess what it was the pain meds!). So I alternate between 25mcg/hr to 37mcg/hr to keep tricking my brain into thinking it's getting enough pain meds.

My next Rhizotomy is the 12th. I'm a little nervous as I just moved to a new state and getting a primary care doctor who would RX pain meds and finding a pain management doctor was a nightmare up here. So I've no experience with this surgeon, if he can just be half as good as my last PM doc was I will be happy.

Thank you so much for introducing yourself, and I think you will love this forum! We have absolutely wonderful members, many of them with years and years of chronic pain experience.

I was on the Fentanyl patch for a very short 3 months, and while the med itself worked just fine, …the delivery system did not suit me and I had to give up on them. I'm glad they are working for you, and several of our members wear them with great success.

Welcome! I, too, am a newbie :-) I have neck / shoulder / back problems stemming from disc herniations in my C-spine. Have been a chronic pain patient for almost six years. I, too, use Fentanyl patches, in addition to other meds / treatments.

I'm sure you will find just what you are looking for here, whether it be support, place to vent, or just a place to hang out. There are wonderful people here, as I'm sure you will find.

What is a Rhizotomy? Sorry, I don't beleive in spinal surgery so that's propably why I never heard of it.
