Hi all

Just wanted to let you know that my private health insurance has agreed to pay for my sacroiliac fusion revision op. I am so pleased as it saves me going on a lengthy waiting list, not to mention smaller hospital and nicer surroundings. It's only a 28 bed facility so it's a small staff who are very caring. Its such a relief.

Only issue is that we are in the middle of arranging for my in laws to move home to be near us. We have had to buy an apartment in a sheltered housing complex, arrange a new bathroom, decorate etc. also I am trying to make curtains and blinds, not easy just now with my current levels of pain! As I need someone with me in the early days, I will have to wait until the move is over at the end of November.

We are looking at early December, not ideal with Christmas coming up but it will be good to start the New Year afresh. This will be my third this year and a whole year of recovering from surgery. My first op was 17 th January. Hopefully the end of it all is in sight now. Just praying that this one works.

      ...thats great news Jane! I hope this fusion works for you as well! wink It sounds like you have a lot on your plate with the move and all...but in the end it will be nice to have some help close by..as recovery can be difficult the first few weeks.

   Let us know when the date is, and I assure you that we will be there for you as you have been for so many of us.

That's great news Jane. Glad they accepted. Sounds like a great facility to have your surgery at as well.

Good luck with all the work in bringing your in-laws home.

Thanks for sharing an update...I am glad they have finally approved the surgery and that this gives you some relief!

Please just go at your own pace with all the apartment stuff. You shouldn't have to hurt yourself just to help others.

The only good part about having surgery around the holidays is that many people are off of work to be able to stop by and say hello or help out by bringing you a meal, helping clean, etc.

I've had all 3 of my major fusions over the holidays and it was nice to have all the fun of Thanksgiving/Christmas to help distract me:)

I'm happy to hear that you will be well taken care of in this smaller hospital for this surgery so I'm sure that gives you some comfort as well.

You are such a sweet person to care for others, I just want you to take care of yourself as well!

Hi Jane glad to here from you, I hope you have a good experience in the hospital, my stay last month was in a similar facility, and they did not have the pharmacy, or the experience to deal with a chronic pain patient, it was painful and miserable. I hope your experience is much better and hope the revision is a success. Take it easy, and don't try to do too much. I'll be praying for you.

Thank you all for your words of encouragement and kindness. I do feel fortunate in that you are all here for me to turn to when I leave the hospital.

The facility where I will have my surgery is great. The staff are great. My surgeon takes care of mt pain meds now, and after a disastrous fusion op two years ago, when the anaethetist was in charge of my pain issues, my surgeon decided to take over and that has worked ou better.

Let's hope this time the PCA won't fail, I won't have a nurse refusing to give me my meds because she thought it was too much and my blood pressure doesn't drop like a stone. Despite all that I am still glad to be going back there as the nurses know me and are lovely. I will keep you posted once I have a date. Thank you all again, it means so much to me.
