I was reading about
Obama care and what will happen with Pain Management and came across this remark from an attending Pain Doctor in Arizona. There are no names on this site they use numbers and I can see why after reading this.
QUOTE:
I will knock myself out and do almost anything for a suffering patient in true need. Seeing the 23 y/o "disabled" patient with fibro is a waste of taxpayer money and my time and goes against my conscience. The money is better spent on psychiatry for these patients. I don't see them and if it is made mandatory I will put them out 6 months, reschedule, leave them waiting 3 hours and spend 2 minutes with them. You can't keep reinforcing bad behavior, people who won't work, (not people who can't work) will receive exactly the same effort they exerted, none.
This is a forum like our's but for Attending and Student doctors from around the country. Almost all of the quotes were about the 30 to 55 year old disabled pain patient on Medicaid. All of the quotes from the attending physicians were that if it was possible they would not see these pt's and would rather have the 65y/o pt and prescribe Tylenol. The younger pain pt's are just to difficult to deal with and if it's nonmalignant pain they should not receive narcotics. It's really sad....
