Hi hope, welcome.to the chronic pain board, sorry you've been dealing with this pain for so long, but you found the best place for daily support, advice, and understanding of what you are going through.
Well, I'm not a doctor, and can't really tell you a whole lot, except that you definitely have some bad things going on in your back, being 29-30 ish, I can also tell you, that you really need to start thinking about long-term ideas to protect your back. The annular tear is a pretty big deal, it can let the nuclei in the disc get mushed out a lot easier that a bulge in the disc could. I believe that a surgeon will recomend a fusion at that level at some point, or laprascopic surgery. Hopefully, you'll be able to avoid any kind of surgical repair for a long time, but I think in this case, it may be presented as an option, though in my opinion, with what else I read, it sounds like there's a lot more that could be explored before considering that.
That's just my take on it, on paper, your back could be a lot worse, and I hope that the doctors will be able to find a long term pain management plan that works without opening you up. But, I also know that the pain can be debilitating, and I also know that the MRIs don't always tell the whole story, my own back was apparently almost half again as bad as what was shown on the last MRI and I think that can be true with a lot of MRI of the spine.
I hope the doctors are able to get some effective treatment and pain relief for you soon. I just turned 29, and I know how scary it is to look at that first MRI report and start wondering what's going to happen to you for the rest of your life, I can tell you it will get easiee in one way or another, it's just going to take time. Take care of yourself, and keel us posted on how your doing. Good luck to you.
