Cymbalta

Carol Cymbalta needs to be stepped down over the course of several weeks if not a few months to avoid or at least minimize any side effects. I don't know what dose you are on but doctors who understand this med suggest stepping down the daily dose by no more than 30 mg at a time every 2-4 weeks and others suggest stepping down by 15 mg at a time until you get to a single 15 mg dose per day and then after a week or 2 stopping all together. This is regardless of what ever else might be used in place of Cymbalta.

If you are taking it for pain some other medications that might work are Lyrica, Nuerontin/Gabapentin, and there are several antidepressants that are known to be effective for pain control. I myself used to take Cymbalta for diabetic nerve pain but had to stop because of insurance issues. I now take Effexor and have had good luck with it.
