Wife is still healing nicely and recovering slowly. She can now get up and down stairs safely. Less dependent on her cane, and sleeping well most nights. Tommorow it will be just 3 weeks out from surgery, and she no longer needs or takes any of the prescript
ion pain meds.
She has begun the appeal process with Worker's Comp. We have an attorney on the side, same one that handled my SSD so well, giving sound advice as we go along. We meet in person this Thursday morning.
Her employer has had a change of heart, and is now fully cooperating with getting her FLMA (Family Leave Medical Act) activated and retro active to the last day that she was able to work. Originally, she was told that you couldnt be on WC and FLMA at the same time, which I knew wasn't true. This way, her job will be fully protected.
She sees the surgeon again on Jan 3rd, and is hoping to get a release to work again. Her employer is writing a document to show the doctor, that she will be kept from anything remotely physical at her job if she is allowed to return.
Me, I see my oncologist on Wednesday. Been a fast two months since I last saw him. Most of the weight loss and intake/output pain has resoloved on its own. I have gained back only 6 lbs, but I think its mostly that I have had to fix 3 meals a day for my wife the past nearly 2 months, and thus I have done a lot of "forced eating" that I wouldn't normally have done. Still have pain upon eating and if needing to take a BM, but not as severe as it was at one point.
The bladder spasms are still rather urgent and severe, that problem is much worse. That combined with the extra pain and fatigue from being a full time caretaker, and it hasn't been easy on me. Hoping to talk to my doctor about all these issues, and see when I can see the Urology Expert in Charleston. Hopefully early in January.
These have been difficult times, the past couple of months - mentally, emotionally, physically, etc. But I tend to only deal with one day at the time.
I appreciate the little bits of help I have received here and there, you know who you are, and it was most welcomed.
Not sure if my dr. is going to do another PSA test at this meeting or not. I really don't care one way or the other, as usual, we both know its going to be going up again, its almost at the point with me, until there is some direct sign that harm is going on, I really don't need to know the number. When my doctor feels its time to do something for me, I am content to continue on this path. I still deal with enough severe daily QOL issues to keep me quite busy as it is, sure not looking for more to add to the list, unless proven to be needed.
