Hi. I'm new here and new to posting at all. I am dx with fibromyalgia, degenerative disc disorder, arthritis at L-5 and L-6. Ruptured disc at L-6. Arthritis and unknown reason at C-7. For another unknown reason, I can no longer climb stairs, stand up for more than 10 minutes, stand up from sitting position. Pain starts in my knees and they tell me I have peripheral nerve disorder (unexplained) in my feet.
My life is changing so fast that a good attitude or the ability to focus on anything else but pain is eluding me. I hope here I can make some friends, help someone else along and just feel better.:)
I am seeing my rheumatologist next month to address some of these unknowns.

Hi there, and sorry to meet under the circumstances. You are far ahead of the curve here with actual diagnoses and specialists already, many of us are still trying to get diagnosed.

We're pretty good folks, and anytime you want to jump into a conversation, feel free. Any questions, ask away. Just remember we're not real doctors. Just experienced patients.

Welcome Sea to the HW forums. It looks as if you have enuf experience with  variety of things that being new to posting should be a breeze. However glad I am to see you join us is  overshadowed by the fact it took chronic pain to cause you to search us out.

Having a place to come to filled with a numerous amount of folks who really understand you is relief in itself and you will find plenty here day or night. If need answers, or need to vent or just a cyberhug you will find it in abundance here at HW. There are some awesome folks here you can always count on.

Again welcome and hoping you get and give here for years to come

Hi SeaWench and welcome to the chronic pain forum. I am glad that you found us but so sorry that you have to be here. I think you will find us to be a friendly and open group of people that all suffer with chronic pain. At least when you come here you know that you are not alone with your pain. Every one here suffers with chronic pain too.

I would like to point out we also have a Fibro forum here at HW and I urge you to check that forum out too. They have a neat group over there and they are always ready to help out in any way. Many of us visit more than one forum here at HW.

Anyway, I wanted to pop on and tell you hello and welcome aboard......Susie

Wow! Thanks to everyone for the warm welcome. That was a pleasant surprise. I also forgot to mention the bi-polar. I will check out the fibro group. And the bi-polar group. Thanks.
I do think I found a place to come home to. My husband is awesome, but I know he gets frustrated with me. Just call it a hunch.
I think posting is going to be fun and I get to meet new people which I don't get out a lot cause of the walking which I miss.
I am very lucky that I do have phenomenal drs. and only took about 6 yrs. LOL I know some folks wait for years just to get dx.

Hi there...Welcome to the boards!

In regards to your last question...we really try to not quote other posts because the owner of the site has to pay by the letter/word so we try to keep the posts fairly short and it takes up too much space to quote others...

If you want to answer someone in particular...you can just address them in a post by saying.."Seawench....the answer to your question is....."....and then go to another paragraph for someone else or the board in general...

May I ask when is the last time you have had a MRI and had a Board Certified Neurosurgeon or BC Orthopedic surgeon look at the films? You mention going to your Rheumatologist and they are great for the Fibromyalgia and the arthritis...but they do not handle any of the spine issues. It would be good to make sure that you aren't a surgical candidate and rule that out/in.

And then they can send you to physical therapy or do injections or even prescribe nerve pain medication which sounds like a lot of your issues. The main thing they can work with your Rheumatologist to get the needed treatments and/or medications for you to be able to start walking again each day and getting appropriate exercise which is so important for our spines as well as for Fibro.

And hopefully you see a good Psychiatrist and/or counselor to help with the bi-polar issues. Are you on medication for this as well?

You will find this is a wonderful site that is filled with people who are like yourself and most of us have more than one health issue going on. It's very hard for many family members or friends to truly understand what it's like to live with chronic pain. I try to not share too much with others as I know they love me, but I like to focus on other things when I am with them and find ways to laugh and have a good time and then I can always come here to vent or talk "shop"...LOL
