Hi there,

Im new to this forum and have "lived" with chronic pelvic pain for nearly 3 years. Anyone else on here with similar conditions? I am currently on Elavil 25 mg ( at one point was at 150mg, too high) and I am also on 900mg Gabapentin. From my experience, it took a long time for a doctor to believe my pain was real. I am now on a wait list for a pain clinic in my city, they say I will have to wait atleast 6 months.

Its very difficult living like this, the pain has loosened its grip on my life, but it still interferes with daily activities. Im just glad there are forums like this one, where we can share our experiences.

hey im so sorry to hear that your in pain. i have a bladder disease so i have pain from that. its not active right now. i had to change eating habits and it helped alot. i know its probably not the same as you have. im just saying that i know pelvic pain can be brutal. i feel for you.

do you not have pain medication to go along with your elavil and gabapentin? normally there is something for pain to go along with it, or atleast ive always been prescribed something to take with it. i hope you feel better and just know that your not alone here. janet

I don't have pelvic pain, but I do have chronic pain. I've lived with it my whole life. Everyone here might not have all the same issues, but we're all in this together.

I'm sure someone around here who knows more about this will be along shortly. I just wanted to let you know we're sorry you're here but we're happy to have you! This is a great place to vent, get advice, learn from others experiences, and just to feel like you're not alone.

Hi there Nora...

My experience with chronic pelvic pain was back in my late teens into my early 30's as I would have ovarian cysts that would rupture all the time. As well as diagnosed with Endometrosis when they went in for the first laprascopic surgery.

They would go in to remove the larger cysts and to cut away at the adhesions that had formed from the rupturing and they were sticking to different organs. They took out my appendix just because they were worried about it also rupturing.

Then I found out that more adhesions would develop after each surgery so I finally said no more. I also stopped my birth control pills which for me was having the opposite reaction with causing the larger cysts to form.

I also started making sure I exercise each day and do stretching/gentle yoga to keep the abdomen flexible, I am eating all organic foods which helps my digestion/colon, as well as drink 12-14 glasses of water a day and all of these things put together has helped keep the adhesion/Endo pain at bay.

Have they diagnosed you with Endo or found something specific like the cysts or fibroids? It seems like they are trying to help you by prescribing nerve pain medication but just like with any medication it is only going to do so much.

Hopefully the pain clinic can put together a better treatment plan for you. I would just make sure that you have seen a good Gynecologist that has ruled out/in certain diagnoses so you at least know what is going on.

We can all certainly empathize with chronic pain as Lexi mentioned, no matter from where our pain is generating.

Is the pain clinic you are on the waiting list for the only one with a PM Dr. in the area?

Welcome Nora to the forum for chronic pain. I also have no problem with pelvic disorders but understand pain. Thats what you will find here,understanding and issues related to living with chronic pain.

I feel your pain. I had chronic pelvic pain in the past. Hope you can hold on til you can get in the pain clinic. gl.

Hi Nora: I just found this forum a day or two ago. I have had chronic pelvic pain for 7 years. Finding a physical therapist who specializes in pelvic pain has been extremely helpful. Have you looked for a PT? Most doctors I went to didn't have a clue what was wrong with me. My PT was the one who finally diagnosed what was happening to me. In the last 1.5 years, I also found a doctor in Phoenix who specializes in Botox injections. I have had two since then and the injections were super helpful. I am ready for a third as my pain level has increased lately. The botox only lasts 3-5 months, but it so worth it. I know I should do more of my pt and exercises once I get the botox, but I have not been motivated to do so. I guess I just enjoy the relief and go on living for awhile. Have you seen the book "Heal Pelvic Pain" by Amy Stein? I encourage you to keep posting and letting us know how you are doing. It was life changing for me to find someone I could talk to that is experiencing what I was going through. Liz

    Nora, what kind of pain are you having? Related to the pelvic bones themselves? Sacroiliac pain? Internal issues? That could provide us with some further advice to move forward with.

    I feel very sorry for you. I have been with pelvic pain for 4 years now, have seen several doctors in my home country, but nothing helped. I hope this forum will help you somehow on your way to a succesful healing.....
