Thank you, Barbara. I will pass on the information to the prayer group. My fiance was diagnosed with cirrhosis, then liver cancer this past year. Fortunately, his HCC did not metastasize and he received a new liver this past November. He went through chemoembolization (directed chemo), where they injected chemo-infused beads directly into the liver. It works by cutting off the blood supply to the tumors, thereby shrinking/killing them. He had to do this because the combined size of his tumors was too large to be eligible for a transplant. It's called down-staging. He was also going to begin treatment with the oral chemo drug, Nexavar, which may be the one that AuntKay's hubby was unable to take. It has some severe side effects and many people cannot tolerate it. Luckily the CE was successful and my fiance was able to be listed.
AuntKay and her hubby will remain in my prayers. My heart goes out to her. I am sure they are keeping him as comfortable as possible and I will continue to pray for that. But it's not over till it's over and the systemic chemo may just work - you just never know! Please let her know that I am thinking of her.......Post Edited (Splashdancer) : 2/28/2013 12:04:55 AM (GMT-7)
