Absolutely sounds neurological. With my knowledge of the neuroanatomy of dogs and horses, my guess would be that you are getting some kind of (positional) impingement of the femoral nerve, where it's branches emerge from the lumbar spine. I can't tell you the what spinal nerves form the femoral nerve in people, but in dogs, it originates from L4-6. While the origins might be slightly different, the branching pattern and innervation is essentially the same. The areas of tingling that you describe, correspond almost perfectly to the cutaneous zone of the femoral nerve and it's distal branches.
I'd definitely talk to your doctor & have him take a look at you, or send you off for new films to make sure that your DDD, or spinal stenosis isn't worsening, or something else isn't going on.
No fun at all! I had a similar experience with my arm recently that lasted a few weeks. It was from an acute, relatively minor injury, and has since healed, but that kind of numbness and tingling is extremely uncomfortable! I hope you are able to get some answers & some solutions from your doc!
