…LOL!….I just got here to read this, and it made me laugh!
I have always enjoyed meeting chronic pain members in person here, and when Cogito told me that he was coming to my city a few months ago, I have been looking forward to it with great anticipation.
The weather was not the greatest for his trip up here, but he finally made it! I had everything planned…looked up the place where he would be staying on Google Earth….pre-picked out a restaurant that I knew would not let me down…and it all went off without a hitch. In my mind, Chronic Pain members deserve the best for all of the suffering they go through!…and trust me, we went to a very nice place to eat. Cogito had Ribeye,…my wife had Prime Rib…and I had Fillet Minion….and we all shared an appetizer. Yummy! Yummy! …just a note: My wifes Prime Rib was at least 2" thick, and was the middle size they offered….I can't imagine how big the large one was!
It's funny…our perception of people can be quite different between emails, phone, and then to see the person in real life. In no way was I disappointed when we finally met. You hear the old term "he is a scholar and a gentlemen" …well in this case it was actually true!
The man is as smart as a whip!…and thoughtful!…a real gentleman!
After a nice introductory visit there in his apartment, we headed to the Scotch and Sirloin…where we met up with my wife. Dinner was awesome!….and again I have to say that Cogito certainly was a gentleman…and one smart puppy! As far as chronic pain conversation…he was easy to talk to, and we share many of the same ideas and thoughts.
At the end of the evening we said our goodbyes…and left with intentions of meeting up again one of these days. I hope we do…and next time bring your wife! Again…Thank You for making the effort, and seeking us out for a visit! Anytime you get back in the area, let us know…and we will plan a good long visit again…complete with awesome eats. Hopefully we can make a trip down there, since you only live 3hrs away or so. There is nothing better than getting to visit with one of our chronic pain members.
If any of you members live somewhat close to each other…I encourage you to meet in person….its an experience that I myself absolutely love! We had a lady here on the forum a couple of years back, that lived here in Kansas…about
2hrs away. We met several times…and she became one of my best friends in life. She passed away after a bad fall….and I miss her sooooo!….much! Just a one of the nicest humans you would ever want to meet. A one of a kind special person!
Life is so very short…and as I have said many times…it is about
relationships. Enjoy your friends!…and make the best of life that you can. You all are stronger than you know! Ok…I'm getting off in LaLa land with my emotions here,…so I better stop.
Suzane….you know we will meet again, but not sure about
next year just yet…as we are working hard on paying off the house. We would love to fly up there and pester you for a week though!
Chartreux!…for sure!….if you are in the area…We would love to see and dine with you! That would be wonderful!…..so let me know! ...Make it happen! Please!
If money was not a worry and I was retired…you can bet I would be on the road visiting as many members as I could!
