Back after a brief hiatus

Hi everyone!

I posted my story a couple months ago. Chronic low back pain, loss of sensation in legs, etc. (I don't know how to find it, and it's probably pretty buried.) I was waiting on insurance. I stopped coming by because I was getting pretty depressed. I avoided everything. I've still got the sads, but I've now got insurance and some people had responded that they knew of good doctors in my area (Columbus, OH).

I had an appointment with a PCP who gave me a prescription for Mobic, Flexeril and Vicodin (she only gave me 12 of 5 mg, saying that was the most she was legally allowed to prescribe). I'm working on getting in to see a specialist at the Orthopaedic and Spine Center in Columbus.

Obviously, I'm out of Vicodin by now (I saw her two weeks ago), and I am in so much pain I can hardly move. The Mobic hasn't helped, and the Flexeril just makes me sleepy. I am literally sitting here in tears on my second wedding anniversary. My husband keeps encouraging me to go to the ER, but I'm afraid that would be frowned upon.

All of my records should be sent to the spine specialist by Monday. I will give them a call and see if they've gotten them. If not, I will call my PCP to remind her to send the records and ask about a refill. I'm just so worried they're going to look at me like a drug seeker.

Hi Robin & welcome back. Glad to hear that you got insurance. If you want to read your prior posts all you have to do is click on your name on the left side. I do hope your appt goes well with the ortho. If you have been keeping up with all of the hype about how drs have tightened up on giving out pain medication then do not be surprised if the specialist does not give you much of anything. Most people are seeing pain mgt specialist to get what little they can get.The whole scenario has changed when it comes to pain medications, new rules & guidelines in place for the drs.

Yes, make sure that the spine specialist received your records. Unfortunately, here in CP land, we have to do a certain % of our organizational work. a I have 3 blood tests a year, I always ask if certain tests are written down as they are very important . . . the PSA and the Hepatic tests in particular. The phlebotamist doesn't mind, she didn't write out the order and I have caught a few mistakes over the past 6 years. . . . Q

It's just too hard for anyone to guess online what could be wrong.

Do you have a regular Primary Care Dr. to call and get fit in tomorrow morning? Most have slots open for more urgent issues. I try to only use the ER for life/death emergencies and since your appendix is out I'm not sure what else would be extremely dangerous that comes on suddenly like this unless you fell and punctured that area...

But only you can decide if you need to be seen in the next few hours.

Do you have a high fever?

Try Googling stools of that nature as it's tripping something in my tired brain today. Could be gallbladder or simply something you ate.

Like SB said its just hard and we wouldn't want to steer you wrong.

lcerative colitis has the diarrhea and localized pain, just sayin' not a Dr. . . . Q
