anyone with failed knee surgery?

I had a partial knee replacement in 2008. Metal came loose soon after and chipped away at bone for 2 years

before  total knee replacement in 9/2010.  My gait has been off since the beginning which creates severe bursitis.

Also l4-l5 fusion has been constantly irritated.  Someone said to me that once surgeon's due their surgery and

films look great they feel their job is done.

Something is wrong with my knee.  I have an appt on May 7th and am going to ask  Dr. to scope knee to check for

loose hardware or damage.

Has anyone been told that their bones are soft?

I have had a tough time accepting that this is my future.  Currently seeing therapist to work through  issues.

It is tough to feel ok one day, take a walk with dog and then being down for day's.  Just ranting a bit.  Thanks for

listening.

Caligirl, I am sorry to read that you are having such difficulty after going through so much with your knee. I can imagine what that is doing to your back by not being able to walk with a normal gait. That is a sure fire recipe for constant problems all the way around.

Who told you that you have soft bones? What sort of tests have they done to come up with this diagnosis? I would see the dr & depending on what he says, if I were not happy with what he has to say, then I would find myself a dr that does knees only & get a consult. Enough time has gone by since your last surgery that there should not be a problem to get another dr to look at your knee.

Let us know how this appt goes with the surgeon. Take care....Susie

Just curious as to what you mean by your gait being off? Does it feel like the knee isn't working right or that one leg is longer than the other, or something else?

As far as "soft bones" goes the medical term is Osteomalacia and is often caused by an deficit of vitamin D though there are other causes too. Hello Cali and yes I have a failed knee replacement. Started with a partial like you,didnt hold went on to total and broke that in a car accident where I was T-boned on drivers side and that knee took all the impact and was then ejected from vehicle landing on the knee which broke most of the hardware.

At this point in time I opted not to redo it. I'm sure at some point I won't have a choice but for now I deal with if. I naturally have a profound limp and use a can if I'm walking far.

So some difference then you as mine was caused by an accident and it may have been OK although I always had the limp and very little stability in the knee after surgery and pre-accident. I was however still in therapy.
