Hey Guys,

My name is Dylan and Im new to this website and forum. I joined because I have seen many people with pain issues have the questions answered and I am one in the same. I have been on OxyContin for going on 7 years now. I was initially prescribed the medication due to a car accident that occurred when I was only 16 years old. I got out of the hospital at 17 and was prescribed OC 80s 3x per day. I am now proud to say I am down to 20 MG 2x a day. Now heres my problem, I went to the beach the today (seeing as the weather has been beautiful here in Ontario) and I managed to lose my pill bottle in the sand. It had my doses for the next 3 days in there and now I am left without any medication to get me through the weekend. Seeing as its past 5 pm my doctors office is closed and I cant get my refill until Monday I have no other options to get my medication. My Mom told me she had 2 3MG HydroMorph-Contin left and Im just wondering if those 2 pills will be able to supplement my OC dose for the next atleast 2 days. I work tomorrow and I do not want to be sick and agitated while I work (especially since I have to deal with people and different social situations) Any tips? Anything will help. Thanks guys.

Hello Dylan and welcome to the forums. We frequently do answer medication questions here for members but we cannot advise you to take a medicine prescribed to someone else.

I'm sorry you've found yourself in such a situation but I would think of the complications as well as the risks of taking a Med not prescribed for you..

You could have a reaction to the hydrmorph leaving your mom in serious trouble,you could lose your meds and D by having a non-prescribed Med in your system and for the small amount of relief that 2 three mgs of diludid time released will give you?

Wish I could be more help but that's the way I see it. I would try to tough it out and don't carry 3 days worth of meds to the beach or anywhere for that matter. That meds your lifeline you take extra care of it and I hope yours doesn't fall into the wrong hands and harm someone.

Hey Dylan....

As Vickie said, I too wouldn't advise you to take meds scripted to someone else, for the reasons mentioned.

Thankfully - it wasn't more medication lost than that.... and with you having a refill due on Monday - I would just try to make it through the weekend. :(

Wish I had better advice... but that's what I would do.... in the future, I would try to stash a few days worth of medication away -- for these rare emergencies.
