Just had a neurostimulator put in my lower back yesterday. They had a very hard time getting my lower back pain feeling anything. Today, after a long nite, I placed it on my sitting postion and in order to have pain relief I had to put it up high, but, still couldn't get any relief for the lower back and I even started to feel it in both arms. Why can't I get it in my back. Legs are ok, even, though it goes mostly to the left when the pain was in the right. I'm ready to call it quits, anyone out there ever had this happen? First timmer to the sight.

Welcome Grand 5 to the forum. So sorry your having trouble. I however do not have any kind of stim but we have those who do.

It's Saturday morning so response may be slow but hang on they will get here and have some advice and suggestions for you.

This is a great place with some awesome folks.

Hello & welcome to the forum. Are you doing the trial or have you already had it implanted? The best person to contact about this is your rep, that is what he/she is there for, that is their job to assist people with those devices. It make need to be tweaked and that is the person that can do it. You should have been provided with your tech's phone number to call in the event you have problems.

Hi,

I have a fairly recently implanted stim. It was put in in December, but they didn't even turn it on until several weeks had passed. This is due to the natural swelling that happens from surgery.

According to my neurosurgeon and my reps., the swelling takes quite a long time to settle down and stimulation patterns are erratic at best.

Even with waiting like I did, I had to have adjustments made at least monthly and even more often on occasion just jeep some measure of coverage or to up the intensity. Both can be done by your rep pretty easily. I did find that there are impulses in my arms too...which they say is physically impossible and yet I know it is possible. I also have nerves that are out of correct placement in my mouth too, so nerve placement may be an issue for you too.

As RM stated, I waited 10 then 12 days after my surgery to have my SCS turned on. I would not panic yet, there r a lot of options yet to be done!

  1. Thanks for all your feed back!  I'm only on the trail phrase.  Rep, called me last nite and meeting him today to do some adjustments.  My remote control is on battery low.  Don't have the charger for it so he is going to give it to me today.  He diffently agrees that the lead has shifted in my back. 

Last nite could only sleep on my right side, couldn't lay to long flat on my back because the pain was too much.  I also, have C5-7 fused in my neck because of cervical myropathly.  Pain is still there from that and that was over a year ago,.  Having Pt again, and hoping that will help> confused
