I just saw your post. I'm sorry hon that you are facing this. Not being able to urinate or defecate is a huge sign of CES, along with the out of the world pain you described.
Surgery is the only option, I'm afraid to relieve the pressure/compression on the nerves/thecal sac containing the spinal nerves. I am pretty sure that they have already told you that if they have come in to see you.
The good news is that once the pressure/compression is relieved, the odds are good that you will make a full recovery. The danger comes from not relieving the pressure or compression for a couple of days since spinal nerves do not regenerate the way that nerve rootlets do. So damage can be permanent or cause permanent impairment.
I have lived with this twice now, and it is no picnic but you are lucky that your doctors were so diligent in making sure that you were seen again and getting this taken care of right away.
