Hi all wanted to get some opinions on a situation that's going on. This evening I was heading to the store to pick up some stuff. Traffic was really busy on the interstate so I decided to go a less traveled way.

Well that road was bumper to bumper too. My daughter is with me as I come to a stop behind the car in front of me, the lady behind me runs into my jeep. Now mind you I don't think she was going to fast. I wasn't pushed into the car in front, nor did my airbags deploy.

I pulled over and was vey worried about my daughter. She had an anxiety attack and wouldn't breathe. Got her settled and I got out of the car and went to talk to the lady. She asked if we were alright and I said I thought so, that my left leg and hip hurt but I didn't need an ambulance. We exchanged information and went on our way.

The accident happened at 6:30 pm and around 9:30 I noticed my hip is hurting me worse. My daughter bit her lip, said her neck and shoulder were stiff and her right knee hurt a bit. Said she had a mild headache. She did say that she felt drained from having the full blown panic attack.

We certainly are not bad enough off to rush to the ER. I'm thinking that maybe we should go to a urgent care place when she gets up? What do you think, I informed the insurance company about how we were feeling. They said to keep any invoices if we are seen by a Drs office. Then let them know so they could update the file.

Normally, we both are seen at a military hospital and they normally don't do bills. We never are charged for our care. Should I pick a local place near my home to be seen? I have osteoporosis so bad I'm a little worried I may have a compression fracture. I broke ribs this past winter just turning the wrong way.

Any and all opinions appreciated. Hate to go for no reason, but I'd hate to have a problem too. Had extensive oral survey on Monday and look like a chipmunk with bruises on my cheek. Really not feeling to well.

So sorry to hear all of this that happened :( Definitely NOT what you needed!

I personally think you should go in and be seen (your daughter, too), as soon as you guys get up. With your complicated medical history, I would take all precautions, especially to r/o fractures, etc.

I know it's frustrating to have to go in.... but it would be worse to NOT go in and there be "something" that gets overlooked.

In terms of where to go.... I'm not really sure. It sounds like it might be a better choice to go in the Urgent Care so that you can get an invoice and so forth. However, I would go where you think it would be the easiest for you both to be seen and where you feel that you both will receive the best care.

I'm really sorry that you have so much going on! Oh - how I can relate to this, lol! But I definitely wouldn't hesitate and I would get in there in the morning.

Let us know how it goes.... and hopefully - all is well for the two of you :(

My opinion is that you should definitely get checked out just to be on the safe side. Even if you don't have to pay, they will have documentation that you were seen and what was done and what the problem is. Both you and your daughter need to get checked out. This protects both of you and then insurance can't turn around and say that you never needed services and they aren't responsible for anything. Even if there is nothing wrong, it just gives you peace of mind at least and if there is something wrong, then getting in sooner rather than later, is always best. Anyway,that's my two cents worth.

I hope that everything works out and that nothing significant shows up. Keep us all posted.

Most definitely be seen Barbara. Make sure wherever you go knows its an auto accident even the military can bill the insurance as they are responsible. Take the information she gave you for her insurance. I believe I would take mine as well that way if hers gives them any problems yours will go after hers for any expenses arising from the accident.

If you were sitting still and she ran into you even if it was just a bump she's obviously at fault.

It's much better to be checked out now then to have something come up later.

Go to the urgent care clinic get seen and they might be able to do x-rays, then call your insurance and let them know about the accident and hold on to your reciepts from the urgent care clinic so you can send them into your insurance USAA is good at collecting from the other party, I hope you both are doing better soon...make sure to let the insurance know the other party/driver was at fault and maybe take the car(your jeep) into the garage to get looked over, bumpers today on newer cars can only take one hit regardless and then need to be replaced, as it will not hold up for a second hit, the metal may feel solid but they do not use solid steel any more it's hallowed out steel, I've seen what these bumpers look like, so piece of mind get your jeep into the shop for a look at and if the recommend a new bumper...

I can only echo everyone else-get checked out.

Also, don't forget you are probably going to feel sore and stiff in the morning. I usually find that the 2nd day after a fall/accident to be the worst, and by the 3rd day things have settled down.

I hope there is nothing seriously wrong. Let us know how it goes.

Last September I had the first car accident I have ever caused. I thought I was fine. Later on after I came home my back and knee starting hurting really bad. I think I didn't notice it at the accident site because of the adrenalin. I went to the Dr. the next day. They said I had a severe case of whiplash. A day or two later I was in so much pain I couldn't get out of bed. I would definitely get it checked. I thought I was fine at first too.

Hi Barb,

I just can't believe your luck, I really think you need a (((hug))) and a rabbits foot, or a horseshoe take your pick.  You need to see Dr. Byers.  She knows you better than any other doctor and she will be the one to take care of whatever is wrong if you did fracture something.  My other concern is your adrenal glands.  Are you holding up on the amount of steroids you are on or do you need a boost of adrenaline with this accident?  How is your mouth?

Not sure what path you should take, but feel strongly you should be looked at for sure, to be on the safe side. Sorry to hear about the accident, when it rains it pours.

Hi Barbara... I was in an accident a few years ago. The day that Johnny Cash died, coincidentally, but I digress. I felt fine after the collision but afterwards my muscles started to turn into knots. I went to the Emergency Room from work and I had two muscles that were spasming and whipplash. I would definitely go get checked out and take your daughter in as well. Even if it's just to find out that everything is okay and to give you peace of mind.
