I am venting here because I have no where else to do it.
I am scheduled for my 4th hand surgery in 18 months on Monday. I am nervous about this one because it is a big one. This is the third one on my right index finger, and the other two have failed. This one will be different because they will be removing a tendon.
I was in just over a month ago and saw his assistant, which is when we scheduled the surgery. I also have Dupuytrens Disease which causes cords in my hands. One of these cords probably caused the last two surgeries to fail. I was told I need to see the Dr. before surgery so he could see the cord, which has grown significantly, causing my thumb to contract toward my index finger, and decide what to do about it, if anything.
I go to my scheduled appointment, after arranging it at work first, only to find out they were supposed to call me to reschedule, and never did. Now, I don't know if I will even see him before Monday.
His nurse did come out and look at my hand and the cord, and said he would have the dr call me. It was likely we could do the appointment over the phone so I could get my questions answered, but then I would not have to make another trip out there.
I am still waiting for the phone cell. He is not in the office tomorrow. I will call and leave a message tomorrow, and call first thing in Friday too when I know he will be in he office. In the end I probably won't know what all he will be doing until I am there for surgery on Monday.
I think it is horrible that if they mess up and don't bother to call to reschedule, they didn't see it as any big deal. If I made the same mistake, it would be a much different situation, and I would have to pay for the missed appointment.
Thank you for letting me vent.
